Disney has revealed the full playlist for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the new EPCOT roller coaster opening in May 2022.

Music is an integral part of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Peter Quill (Star-Lord) received a Sony Walkman from his mother, filled with the songs she loved growing up. Thus, the songs are decidedly older but still bangers in their own right.

It only made sense then that music would play an important role in the new roller coaster at EPCOT inspired by the film. The coaster, called Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, opens on May 27, though Annual Passholders will begin their exclusive previews 20 days earlier. And with it comes a lineup of incredible songs.

The final mix of songs for the new Guardians coaster contains just six classic songs that fit with the vibe of the franchise, but Disney Imagineers originally started with a list of more than 100 for the onboard audio.

Here’s what made the cut:

  • “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire
  • “Disco Inferno” by the Trammps
  • “Conga” by Miami Sound Machine
  • “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears
  • “I Ran” by A Flock of Seagulls
  • “One Way or Another” by Blondie

Fun fact: “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and “I Ran” have already proven their spot on the Milano! Check them out in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos-Montréal.

Onboard Audio on the Guardians Coaster

The coolest part about this playlist is you’ll never know which song you’ll get on your intergalactic journey aboard Cosmic Rewind. That’s right: You’ll hear one song during your experience, which means you’ll need to ride at least six times to hear every song.

This one-song-per-ride is similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: Breakout! attractions at Disney’s California Adventure, which gets guests excited to ride it again and again in an effort to experience each song.

Check out the Disney Parks TikTok below to hear from one of the Audio Media Designers for Walt Disney World who worked on the new Guardians coaster’s audio design:

Cosmic Rewind Storyline

In divulging the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind playlist, Disney also previewed a bit of the plot of the new EPCOT roller coaster. While much is still shrouded in secrecy, we now know that riders will be faced with a mission to help the Guardians stop Eson, pictured below.

Seems like a tall order given that this dude can grab Earth with his massive hand just as easily as a Harlem Globetrotter palms a basketball.

Better get yourself to the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion at EPCOT starting May 27. Looks like the Guardians need all the help they can get.
