What is Typhoon Lagoon Like at Night?

Sure there are special treats, a dance party, and character appearances, but one of the best parts of this event was seeing Typhoon Lagoon at night. This is one of the most beautiful waterparks in the world, with lush vegetation and natural-looking rockwork all around.

To see this beautiful paradise with a lighting kit? Just magical. Aside from well-lit slides and swimming areas, there was also special colored lights on the landscaping to make things a lil more funky for this neon celebration.

How Early Can You Arrive at H2O Glow?

The official H2O Glow After Hours nights start at 8:00 PM and run until just 11:00 PM. That gives you only three hours to enjoy the glow-up goodness included in the party.

But guests in-the-know will arrive at 6:00 PM, the earliest time you can get in with an H2O Glow ticket. This gives you a couple of hours to enjoy Typhoon Lagoon as the day crowd gets their pants back on and hits the gates.

🌊 Between 6:00 and 8:00, the lazy river; Castaway Creek, and the pools may be your best bet, as the slide lines will still be long until the party starts.

Are the Lines Short at H2O Glow?

Have you ever seen Typhoon Lagoon at night? Photo by Rain Blanken

A resounding YES!

Not only is the wave pool less crowded (always an issue when those waves yeet you into the middle of a family), but the slide lines are very short.

At the triple tubular Humunga Kowabunga, I tricked my daughter and her girlfriend into thinking I was actually crazy enough to hurtle my body into the darkness. We counted down from three, and as they disappeared down their tubes, I noped-out back down the stairs. All made possible by the fact that there were zero guests in line to watch my shameful descent. Thanks, H2O Glow!

Over at the Crushin’ Gusher, we were able to ride both the banana and pineapple water coaster tubes within about 20 minutes. That’s a very short wait for the most popular slide in the park!

Keelhaul Falls, Mayday Falls, and Gangplank Falls all had 5-10 minute waits at twilight, just before the party started.

If you’re considering a ticket for H2O Glow based on avoiding the dredgery of standing in the heat in line for a slide, then it’s completely worth it.

🌊 These waterslides were open at H2O Glow with little to no wait all night:

  • Bay Slides
  • Crush ‘n’ Gusher
  • Gangplank Falls
  • Humunga Kowabunga
  • Mayday Falls
  • Miss Adventure Falls
  • Storm Slides

Which Snacks are Included at H2O Glow?

Soda, popcorn, Mickey Bars, Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches, and other frozen treats-on-a-stick are all included in the price of admission and can be found at stations scattered throughout the park.

We felt like we were back on the Disney Dream as we just waltzed up to a soda station, grabbed a cup, and filled up whenever we wanted. At one point, my husband popped right out of a waterslide and immediately grabbed a Mickey Bar at a nearby station. Now that’s a party!

Aside form the included snacks, there is an entire menu of special treats designed to enhance your H2O Glow party experience.

That Miss Tilly Sipper

Another special item only available during the party is the Miss Tilly Sipper. Now when I say this is the perfect sipper… I’ve been burnt before by the likes of past sippers that can’t be set properly on a table, or are just plain difficult to hold onto.

This sipper is egonomically perfect, with the craggy rocks acting as great grips, and of course Miss Tilly is just there being adorable, waiting to warn you about that next wave. She hold 8 oz and is available throughout the park.

Is H2O Glow Worth the Cost?

Typhoon Lagoon H2O Glow Nights 2022 DJ Gregg Blanken

While WDW Magazine funded my ticket, we paid out-of-pocket for my husband, daughter, and her girlfiend, so we were keeping an eye out for ticket value at our first bash.

While some hard-ticket parties, like Mickey’s Not So Scary or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party vary according to what date you’re going, the H2O Glow tickets are a fixed cost for every single night of the party: $75.00 for adults and $70.00 for children (ages 3-9).

🌊 DVC Members and Annual Passholders can expect to pay $59.00 for adults and $54.00 for children.

One of the perks that I found most worth the cost of H2O Glow were the character appearances. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Stitch and Lilo came out onto the stage every 45 minutes or so to join the party. They would not only dance to the latest Encanto hits, but they each took time to come down into the crowd. Tip: Don’t challenge Minnie to a dance-off. You will lose.

I think it was when I was kicking around sand in an effort to follow dance instructions from DJ Gregg, a Miss Tilly sipper around my neck, and having just high-fived Goofy, I knew this party was worth the cost. The best park experiences are when you’re in the moment, having an absolute blast—and knowing you’re about to go hang on to a plastic inner tube for dear life.

We didn’t have to wait in line, rode every waterslide in the park, ate too many Mickey Bars for people about to enter a wave pool, and I even got a glow bracelet out of the deal. It’s worth it, and I’m going again!

Tips to Enjoy H20 Glow:

H2O Glow Nights Editorial Director Rain Blanken

Wave survivor, Rain Blanken

🌊 Is it cold at night at Typhoon Lagoon? No. We went on the first night, May 28, 2022, and it was very warm outside. The water was a very warm temperature. Almost suspiciously so.

🌊 When do the snack carts open? The snack carts were ready earlier than the official party start. We showed our wristbands to access treats before 8:00. Your night may be a bit different.

🌊 Are lockers still available at H2O Glow? Yes. The Typhoon Lagoon lockers are waiting and ready to hold the stuff you want to keep safe and dry for the cool price of $10 for a small locker (fits one backpack), $15 for a large one.

🌊 Is Partysaurus Rex there this year? Alas, Rex is busy over at Hollywood Studios, helping Slinky out with that whole rollercoaster playset. The theme for H2O Glow this year does not follow the famous Partysaurus Rex Pixar short. However, there were WALL-E, Dory, Nemo, and Kevin floaties in Castaway Creek for you Pixar pals.
