We’re almost there – the new Tiana’s Palace restaurant is just about ready to open inside Disneyland Park, and we have your first look at the delicious dishes that’ll be on the menu.

New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park is about to get a fresh new restaurant! Earlier this year, Disney announced that the French Market Restaurant would undergo a reimagining and transform into Tiana’s Palace, an establishment inspired by the story of The Princess and the Frog. Well, it’s almost time to try the delicious food that’s been cooked up and added to the menu of this revamped restaurant! Tiana’s Palace is set to open on September 7, 2023, and we’ve got your very first look at what’s in store.

WDW Magazine was invited to preview the new menu at Tiana’s Palace, and we’re sharing our sneak peek with you below. Featuring a slew of tasty meal choices, all inspired by the flavors of New Orleans and Tiana herself, you won’t want to miss this quick-service spot on your next Disneyland visit.

A Restaurant Inspired by New Orleans and Tiana Herself

During our preview, we learned about the creation of and inspiration for Tiana’s Palace. James Finch, who worked on the visual development of films like Wreck-It-Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, and Moana, also worked with a team of artists on the location of The Princess and the Frog. To bring the film to life in the form of this new dining spot at Disneyland, they started with Tiana, her loving family, and her dreams of serving her community. And, of course, her dream of bringing delicious gumbo to the community at large!

After visiting New Orleans, the team took inspiration from the local factories, industrial buildings, and even sugar mills that were left behind over the years. But they also pulled ideas from the French Quarter, with its iconic balconies and architecture. They worked to combine these two aesthetics, ultimately creating a space with vaulted ceilings, elegant chandeliers and fixtures, and details like cast iron, floral lilies, and a space that flows indoors and outdoors.

So, what’s on the menu? Keep reading to find out!

At Tiana’s Palace at Disneyland, you’ll find plenty of classic comfort food – but it all starts with dessert!

That’s right, this quick-service dining spot has dessert at its heart. And that’s all because Tiana herself loved starting with dessert! She dreamed of selling her specialty beignets, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Tiana’s Palace. Beignets are a staple of New Orleans, and the version at Tiana’s Palace pays homage to another beloved New Orleans dessert: lemon icebox pie. Culinary director Chef John State and Lindell Skinner, the restaurant’s Operations Manager, shared that the beignets feature a filling and glaze inspired by lemon icebox pie, making them both sweet and special.

7 Greens Gumbo is also one of the standout dishes at the restaurant, as Tiana’s father, James, taught her how to make her version. The New Orleans-style gumbo that’ll be served at Tiana’s Palace feels like an old family recipe featuring seven greens, house spices, veggies like sweet potatoes and okra, and Carolina gold rice. Best of all, the gumbo is plant-based – making it feel like home for every diner’s preferences!

And of course, you don’t want to miss the two staples: cornbread and hot sauce. Both are designed to be paired with your gumbo, and Tiana’s Palace will feature a hot sauce station where you can choose the level of heat you’d like to add.

Beyond these two staples, you’ll also find other New Orleans favorites on the menu at Tiana’s Palace, including:

  • House Gumbo, another spin on gumbo that features chicken and andouille sausage
  • Beef Po-Boy Sandwich, made with New Orleans French bread and plenty of toppings, plus sides of red beans and rice
  • Cajun Spice Half Chicken, with chicory BBQ sauce and served with baked macaroni and cheese and coleslaw
  • Muffuletta Sandwich, featuring mortadella, salami, rosemary ham, cheddar, provolone, and house-made olive relish
  • Gulf Shrimp and Grits with a Creole sauce and plenty of cheese

And you won’t want to overlook the kids’ menu, either! With options like a Roasted Chicken Drumstick, Toasted Ham & Cheese Sandwich, and Baked Macaroni and Cheese, it features a spin on the adult dishes with more kid-friendly sizes and flavors.

Although Tiana’s Palace will be a quick-service restaurant, you can really expect table service quality in a convenient format. And mobile order will be available, too! No matter what you choose from the menu, the dishes include ingredients that were sourced locally in New Orleans or Louisiana for authenticity, both in flavor and to Tiana’s story.

Don’t Overlook the Delicious Drinks, Either

While food is certainly the star of Tiana’s Palace at Disneyland, you won’t want to miss the drink menu. We learned that there’s a very special beverage that you’ll want to try: Joffrey’s Coffee Chicory Cold Brew.

This specialty cold brew was created just for Tiana’s Palace, and it’s a total treat. Made with a special custom blend of Joffrey’s Coffee, it features chicory, an ingredient that’s central to New Orleans and its flavors. As Skinner shared, chicory was designed to extend coffee’s lifespan, and it ultimately became a famous New Orleans flavor profile you won’t find elsewhere. And the sweet cream topping is also something magical, thanks to the cane syrup sourced directly from Louisiana.
