Game Review: Funko Games’ Toy Story Talent Show

by | Apr 6, 2022 | Magic at Home, News Outside the Parks, WDW Blog

Want to bring the fun of Midway Mania back home? Here’s our review of Toy Story Talent Show, a new action packed board game from Funko Games.

Growing up, board games with my family were some of my favorite memories. The tradition carries on, with my son and I enjoying some new classics.

My son (8) and I were fortunate enough to get to try a new game from Funko. Toy Story Talent Show is a game for 2-6 players ages 6 and up.

Who’s Got Talent?

Obviously this game is about talent, but maybe not the traditional talents you might be used to. The talent cards really “level the playing field” by making them unusual… lassoing army men, playing pool with a Pixar ball and Bo’s staff, balancing items on your head among many other fun tasks.

Here’s my son trying to push a ball with his nose around a frisbee and back. Some talents are timed and others limited to a number of tries.

Props Provided

Funko provides easily recognizable Pixar props to help with the talents. Included is a Pixar ball, Bo Peep’s staff, Bullseye’s horseshoe, an alien eye blindfold, and a frisbee, among other items.

Hours of Fun

One of my favorite parts of the game is the scoring– While it takes a little strategy it is kind of you playing against yourself. If you are victorious in your talent you get to pick a string of three tickets, however, you don’t know the point value on them. If you lose your talent, you’ll still get to pick up single ticket as a participation prize.

What’s fun is the strips three tickets could each have one point on them, while a single ticket could be worth three points! If you’re lucky, you could win the game without winning your talent!

You can play for as long as you want. While the game does have some guidelines for different group sizes, it can be easily adapted for the time you have available to play.

This game was really unique, unlike the other games we own– and we can’t wait to play it again! We laughed a lot and, honestly, didn’t even add up the points at the end of the game.

Funko Games’ Toy Story Talent Show is available for purchase online through Amazon and other retailers.
