Here’s a current round-up of Walt Disney World refurbishments for closed attractions and resorts.

Every now and again, Walt Disney World (WDW)has to fix a ride or freshen up a resort to not only keep the magic alive but to make sure things are running smoothly and remain looking good.

That’s why refurbishments are important. And to make sure you have all of the information handy for when you’re planning your next visit, you probably want to know which attractions and resorts might be down.

Well, here you go! This is the current refurbishment schedule.

Walt Disney World Railroad: The Walt Disney World Railroad is currently closed through TBD, due to the construction of TRON Lightcycle Power Run.

The Hall of Presidents: The Liberty Square attraction is closed until further notice as Disney gets the next animatronic, aka President Joe Biden, ready to join his fellow United States presidents.

Tom Sawyer Island: Don’t worry, the island is only closed through Feb. 4, 2021.

Liberty Square Riverboat: Like Tom Sawyer Island, the boat that sails on the Rivers of America is only closed through Feb. 4, 2021.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover: Unfortunately, the PeopleMover has been closed for a long time, with the reopening date repeatedly pushed back. As of right now, the Tomorrowland attraction will be closed through Feb. 28, 2021.

Mad Tea Party: Guests wanting to take a spin on the massive teacups better hurry, because Mad Tea Party will be closed from Feb. 22 through March 4, 2021.

Swiss Family Treehouse: You won’t be able to climb the Swiss Family Treehouse from March 12 through March 25, 2021.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been closed since WDW first reopened after its temporary closure due to the ongoing pandemic. Well, the original and iconic hotel will remain closed through summer 2021.

Initially, the Polynesian was set to reopen on Aug. 12, 2020, which then got pushed to Oct. 4, 2020.

But, Disney announced in late August 2020 that the resort would be undergoing an extensive refurbishment resulting in its lengthy closure.

The refurbishment will add a brand new entryway design that is described as a way to “showcase the iconic mid-20th century architecture the Polynesian is famous for.” The updated entry will also have a “high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in a thatch style.”

The Monorail station at the Polynesian will also receive a makeover. You can expect the addition of new wooden screens that will be covered with geometric patterns and bright colors.

Plus, the gardens and the fountains at the entrance of the resort will receive “enhancements.”

If that isn’t enough, the entryway will also feature “dramatic lighting elements, including beautiful chandeliers inspired by glass floats, fishing nets, and oversized bamboo elements.” These chandeliers will match the current one in the lobby.

To be clear, the Great Ceremonial House is still open for guests to enjoy select dining and shops. Also, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are open and accepting new reservations.
