The new year is almost here, and whether you’re ringing in 2015 at WDW or just dreaming of it, we’ve got some special EPCOT cocktails and mocktails to recommend for your toast at the big countdown to midnight!
Grey Goose Slush
The Grey Goose Slush is an iconic adult beverage hailing from EPCOT’s France Pavilion. Lemon and Orange flavours are available year round, with specialty optins available at the festivals throughout the year. Lemon is a nice, tart option to toast with, so if you’re at EPCOT, that’s my pick – and if you’re at home, follow the recipe below!
2 oz Grey Goose Citron, 2 oz sweet and our mix, 1 part simple syrup – blend it up with lots of ice to get that classic slush texture, and serve in a martini glass. And while you can’t get a “virgin” version of this in the park, simply skip the vodka at home for a family-friendly treat!
One of the most popular cocktails from past EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival menus is this exotic, fruity cocktail. You’ll ony be able to enjoy this one at home as it’s not available year-round in the park. Leave out the gin and brandy and you’ll have a fun mocktail anyone can enjoy!
Combine 1.5 oz Henrick’s Gin, 1 oz cherry brandy, 1oz pineapple juice, and 1 teaspoon grenadine with ice in a cocktail shaker and shake-shake-shake for 30 seconds. Pour in a tall glass, add a marachino cherry (or tow if you’re like me!) and top with club soda.
This one might seem a little off the wall, as it’s usually used as a chaser to a tequila flight at La Cava del Tequila in EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion. But I love making batches of it at home to sip as a spicy citrus juice – it’s great for folks who like tomato juice or a bloody mary, but with a twist! Bonus – this one is completely alcohol free, and will give you a good serving of your fruits and veggies!
Make it at home by mixing together all the ingredients, and stir vigorously: 3 cups tomato juice, 6 seeded and finely chopped serrano peppers, half a red onion finely chopped, a scant cup each of fresh lime, grapefruit, and orange juice, 17 fresh mint leaves finely chopped, and salt to taste!
Chill well, stir again, and serve in shot glasses or with a cute mini umbrella in a short glass for a larger portion.
