The DVC Lounge atop the Imagination Pavilion in EPCOT has always been a welcome respite for DVC Members who need a break from the heat.
I wasn’t sure if the lounge would be open during the phased reopening of Walt Disney World, but during our visit last week, we were happy to report that it is open… with a few changes for our safety.
At check-in downstairs, members will need to get ID checked just like usual at the podium (this time with plexiglass). I discovered on this trip that I could use the virtual DVC Member card when I logged into the website on my phone.

The Cast Members in the above photo are masked, and we were for most of our DVC Lounge time, too: Guests are required to wear masks unless actively eating or drinking at their table.

Disney Vacation Club Members are directed immediately to one of the tables. There, you’ll need to stay put unless you’re getting up to get a beverage.
Each table is named after a DVC Resort to make things fun and help guests remember where they are stationed at.

One issue with a lot of sit-down areas during COVID seems to be the proximity of the chairs to other people.
Sure, tables can be 6 feet apart, but I’ve seen a lot of chair-scooting that amounts to little social distancing. Disney is looking to keep that to a minimum with these signs on the tables that request guests to keep the chairs at the table.

Social distancing is key in any indoor space these days. Signage like this reminder on the floor helps to keep Cast Members and guests safe.

The complimentary drink machines in the EPCOT DVC Lounge have a new look, too.
Instead of guests freely accessing the machines, a Cast Member, separated from the guests by a table, will fill your drink order for you.

The children’s area was full of high-touch surfaces like plush chairs and video game consoles. Those have been removed to discourage kids from touching anything or wandering away from their assigned tables.

Baby Yoda did check out the lounge from our table, and still found it to be fun for kids.
The beautiful view, air-conditioning, and complimentary soda were enough for him… and us! The EPCOT DVC Lounge is a little different these days, but still worth a visit to get a break from the heat.
