The entrance arch gates at Walt Disney World will be repainted to match Cinderella Castle
It’s how you know you’re on property. The magical signal that you’ve crossed over, by car (or carriage?) into the place where Dreams Come True.
Brace yourselves for your next visit, because the gates at Walt Disney World will look a bit different.
Disney announced today that the entry gates at Walt Disney World will change from their current yellow/purple/red/blue color extravaganza to a more uniform gold and blue.
A Tale of Two Disney World Gates

What’s Missing?

Compare these two entry arches.
Note the absence of a castle in this artist’s rendering.
Of course, this image is subject to change, but we’re guessing the castle will be removed in favor of representing the new Cinderella Castle in color scheme only.
We love the look of the bubbly pale blue castle, but since the actual Cinderella Castle doesn’t really look like that anymore after it’s royal paintjob, we understand.
What we’re excited for? The prismatic flags that this rendering promises, and emblazoned underneath Walt Disney World:
“The Most Magical Place on Earth”
Disney World is certainly where Dreams Come True, but we would love to see this motto get a little more traction, as people still confuse WDW with the Happiest Place on Earth (that’s Disneyland).
Mickey and Minnie Stay the Same

Mickey will still wave you on in!

Minnie before and after the makeover.
There are several of these arches leading guests into Walt Disney World, and each will receive the same refresh.
New Entry Paint for the 50th
The archway repainting is in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, which is officially on October 1st, 2021, but will be celebrated all year long.
If you’re startled by this change, buckle up, buttercup. There are likely to be a lot more coats of paint and changes in the air as we approach Disney World’s master plan for 2021.
But if there’s something Walt believed in, it was that his parks would never be finished. That includes new resorts, exciting developments in ride technology, and yes… the occasional paint job.
