Emile’s Fromage Montage 2022 has even more cheesy goodness to discover. Here is our top 10 list for cheesy treats.
Emile from Ratatouille has the right idea of fun, there is nothing like scurrying around all day eating cheese! Take a chance to step in his shoes (or lack thereof) and join in on the 2022 Emile’s Fromage Montage!
If you complete this cheesy feat you will receive a yummy surprise at the end of your journey. I think we can agree that this is a much better fate than getting whacked at with a broom like in Ratatouille!
Emile’s Fromage Montage: Paws On the Prize
To get your paws on the prize you must collect at least five of the cheesy items on Emile’s list. Feel free to eat more, but collect five to retrieve your prize! Be sure to get your passport stamped during your hunt for these cheesy delights.
This year the dessert prize is the same as the last, a free Strawberry Cheesecake Soft-Serve with a piece of cheesecake on top, and it comes in a souvenir cup!
🍷Here are all ten menu items along with beverage pairings to go with, in the Florida heat you have to quench that thirst somehow!
1.🧀 Crispy Barbecued Pork Rinds
- Crispy Barbecued Pork Rinds with pimento cheese; $4.75
This is the second year in a row we have seen this dish as a part of Emile’s Fromage Montage. I’m sure it will stay on the menu for years to come because this snack is jam-packed with flavor and a crunch and creaminess that together, is unmatched.
🍷 Pair it with: Try the Rombauer Zinfandel from California to add a dry element to refresh your palate after all that creamy cheese!
2.🧀 Smoked Corned Beef with Crispy Potatoes
- With Smoked Corned Beef with Crispy Potatoes, Cheese Curds, Pickled Onions, and Beer-Cheese Fondue; $5.50
With cheese in two different forms, this dish will add complexity to your day. It’s tangy, salty, and creamy has a bit of everything. This is not only a great selection for the Fromage Montage but is consistently a festival favorite of the WDW Magazine staff.
🍷 Pair it with: The Swine Brine for a savory, sweet, and smokey combination that’s easy on the palate.
3. 🧀Crispy Paneer
- With Mango-Curry Ketchup; $5.00
If you like your cheese deep-fried this is the Fromage for you. The delicious mango-curry ketchup gives this crispy dish a little sweetness to complement the saltiness.
🍷 Pair it with: The Mango Lassi with Sōmrus Chai Cream Liqueur is
- Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions, and Cheese; $5.00
This dish is basically the German equivalent of mac and cheese. With a pasta gratin that will leave your tastebuds dancing, it’s a noodle dish that has it all. The ham, onions, and cheese combo have a complexity that sometimes mac and cheese lacks and the longer noodles make it very fun to eat.
🍷 Pair it with: For the full Germany experience pair this with the German beer flight.
5. 🧀Raclette (any)
- Choice of ham, potatoes, and cornichons, or pears and figs; $5.00
The raclette has all the charm and taste of a charcuterie board, but is warm and melty. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing that warm gooey cheese being scraped right onto your plate. There are several options for yummy accouterments so no matter if you prefer sweet or salty, there is something for you.
🍷Pair it with: The wine flight provides an array of flavors that make for a fun experiment when tasting all the different elements of the raclette.
6. 🧀Griddled Cheese
- With Pistachios and Honey; $4.75
The infamous griddled cheese (or “Saganaki” as the Greeks call it) is a returning fan favorite at the fest, the honey and pistachios make it a delicious salty-sweet treat with a little bit of crunch.
🍷Pair it with: What is cheese without wine? Luckily, this booth has a wine flight so you can try the different grapes of Greece with your griddled cheese.
7. 🧀Pão de Queijo
- Brazilian Cheese Bread; $4.50
This cheesy bread is even better than it looks, the crunch on the outside does not prepare your taste buds for the ooey-gooey cheesy center. Great by itself but also a good snack for dipping!
🍷Pair it with: The Frozen Caipirinha with Cachaça gives a perfect citrusy intermission between moist warm cheese bites, it is both refreshment and flavor-enhancing.
8. 🧀Canadian Cheddar and Bacon Soup
- Served with a Pretzel Roll; $5.25
A hearty portion that will stick to your ribs and make you want to curl up for a nap afterward, this isn’t the classic pretzel and nacho cheese you find at a ball game, this cheese is rich and creamy with a smokey bacon flavor.
🍷 Pair it with: The Château des Charmes Cabernet-Merlot Estate is a great pairing to quench your thirst in between creamy bites of soup and pretzel.
9. 🧀Passion Fruit Cheesecake- Available Beginning August 15
- With Toasted Macadamia nuts; $4.50
If you need a break from the salty goodness at the fest head on over to Hawaiʻi to try this sweet cheesy dessert, the passion fruit gives a yummy fruity element.
🍷Pair it with: Try the Florida Orange Groves Sparkling Pineapple Wine for some bubbly to wash it down with a fruity tart flavor.
10. 🧀Mac & Cheese (any) – Available Beginning August 15
- Traditional Macaroni & Cheese with herbed panko; $5.00
- Cowboy Macaroni & Cheese with smoked pork belly, brisket burnt ends; pickled peppers, onion straws, and barbecue aïoli; $6.25
- Chili-Cheese Macaroni & Cheese with sour cream and cheddar cheese; $5.50
Any of these mac and cheese plates will help you on your Fromage Montage quest but the cowboy mac and cheese is a mac you don’t want to miss!
🍷 Pair it with: The 81Bay Brewing Co. Lemon Hazy IPA is the perfect match with some mac and cheese on a hot day! The lemon gives a refreshing citrusy element to an otherwise hoppy IPA.
Who knew cheese could come in so many different forms? With ten different cheese items to choose from it will be an easy task to snag at least five! If you’re a serious cheese lover feel free to try them all and decide which is your fav of the fest.
