What It’s Like to Ride Disney’s First-Ever At Sea Attraction: The AquaMouse

by | Oct 25, 2023 | Disney Cruise Line, Disney Wish

Learn what it’s like to experience Disney’s first-ever attraction at sea, the AquaMouse onboard the Disney Wish.

The Disney Wish marked a number of firsts for the Disney Cruise Line fleet. It’s also is home to Disney’s first ever attraction at sea! That’s right: On board the Disney Wish, you can experience an attraction that’s got all the same excitement and magic as the kinds of attractions you’d find in the theme parks! This attraction is the AquaMouse, and it takes Guests on an at-sea adventure in the form of a thrilling water ride, complete with Disney cartoons.

Below, we’re sharing all of the details of the AquaMouse experience, including what it’s like to ride.

What is the AquaMouse?

Whether you love rollercoasters or the twisting, turning slides at waterparks, you’ll love the AquaMouse on the Disney Wish! Guests can slide and splash around as they’re immersed into the stories of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse. Complete with animated cartoon scenes and special effects, this at-sea attraction is a first-of-its kind, leaving riders with laughs and smiles. Plus, it’s a ride Guests of every age will love.

This fun family adventure consists of 760 feet of tubes suspended above the decks of the Disney Wish. You’ll literally ride over the open sea – and the ship below!

When you board the AquaMouse, you’ll climb into a raft. Each raft is a two-seater, allowing you to either experience the attraction solo or with close friends. You will get one of two storylines: the Scuba Scramble or the Swiss Meltdown! (The experience you receive is completely random).

The AquaMouse: Scuba Scramble

If you get the Scuba Scramble storyline, you’ll join Mickey and Minnie as they decide to start their very own seaside excursion company – which they name “Port Misadventures.”

You’ll take an undersea excursion to Mermaid Lagoon, which is filled with laughs and surprises, including curious sea creatures, familiar Disney friends, and more than 60 water effects. The experience will completely immerse you into the subaquatic world, and it’s all synced to an original musical score by Emmy-nominated composer Christopher Willis.

The AquaMouse: Swiss Meltdown

If your ride on the AquaMouse features the Swiss Meltdown storyline, you’ll embark on a snowy adventure with Mickey and Minnie as they invite Guests on a mountain sledding excursion. As expected, the adventure isn’t the smoothest – before you know it, the sun begins to melt the snow, sending you on a frantic dash down the mountain. Watch out for obstacles such as avalanches and waterfalls!

WDW Magazine had the chance to ride the AquaMouse when the Disney Wish first hit the high seas. We got the Swiss Meltdown experience, and you can ride along with us below:

AquaMouse vs AquaDuck: What’s the Difference?

If you’re a Disney Cruise Line fan, you might be confused – some Disney ships do have something that seems similar on board called the AquaDuck. However, the AquaDuck is not the same attraction as the AquaMouse!

The AquaDuck, which can be found on the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, is classified as an “elevated water coaster.” This exhilarating waterslide takes Guests on a wet and wild journey which goes up, down, and around the Disney ship. At one point, the tubes even go off of the side of the ship, allowing you to ride directly over the ocean – plus get a bird’s-eye view of pools throughout the ship!

While the AquaMouse brings Guests through the world of Mickey Mouse cartoons, the AquaDuck uses the outside world to take Guests on a beautiful, exhilarating, and wet adventure. Here’s a pro tip: Ride the AquaDuck at night for a unique and breathtaking experience! (Plus, it may not be as crowded if you go later in the evening)
