Disneyland Park to Redesign Mickey’s Toontown to be Haven for Young Kids

Get ready for a Mickey’s Toontown redesign in 2023. That’s right, Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland Park will get a makeover in 2023 to enhance its appeal to families with young children.

If you’re a Disney fan with young kids, listen up! Disneyland Park just announced it’ll be revamping Mickey’s Toontown to make it friendlier to young families whose kids are more interested in playing with sticks and rocks than in riding “it’s a small world.”

The reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will feature a slew of attractions designed to appeal to younger kids. It’ll also reportedly have an area perfect for play and parental relaxation. (Side note: Parental relaxation? What’s that? How can I sign up for it?)

New Landscaping

The area will be redesigned to have a greener landscape, including grassy areas for play and a dreaming tree inspired by the tree Walt Disney used to sit and daydream under as a young lad. This tree has sculpted roots perfect for climbing over, crawling under, and jumping around.

Upon entering the new Mickey’s Toontown, the first thing you’ll see will be CenTOONial Park. It has a fountain that features two water tables for your kids to play in and get soaked and then complain about being wet for the next hour. But hey, at least they will have fun!

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Mickey’s Toontown will also be home to Disneyland Park’s newest ride: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Presumably, this ride will be similar to the original version at Walt Disney World Resort, which opened in 2020 to replace the much-loved Great Movie Ride.

Plenty of Character Sightings

But don’t worry! Not everything is changing. There will still be plenty of opportunities to see your favorite Disney characters, including Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck, and more.

Not sure if you’re going? You can just get more information about a potential Disney vacation.
