After discontinuing its annual pass program during the 13-month COVID-19 closure of Disneyland, Disney announced a new annual pass program called Magic Key. This program created four tiers for potential passholders to purchase, including the Imagine Key, Enchant Key, Believe Key, and Dream Key.
The Imagine Key was the entry-level tier while the Dream Key went for $1,399. The Dream Key, only for California residents, included no blockout dates, meaning Dream Key Holders could theoretically visit Disneyland every single day.
While Disneyland previously paused the sale of new passes, as of April 11, 2023, Magic Key passes are currently available for sale again. But, if you’re wondering how to renew your Magic Key pass, we’re sharing everything you need to know.
How to Renew Your Disneyland Magic Key

The Magic Key renewal program looks a little different from the original Magic Key program that Disneyland debuted in 2021. The two biggest changes:
- Pricing
- Blockout dates
Notably, the Disney Dream Key has been discontinued; instead, Disney has replaced it with the Inspire Key. Why the name change? Disney scrapped the no-blockout date perk from the Dream Key. Disney needed a new name to differentiate between its old premium pass with no blockout dates and its new premium pass with blockout dates.
How Much Will a Disneyland Annual Pass Renewal Cost?
Pricing for all four tiers of the Disneyland Magic Key annual pass has increased. Here’s what a Disneyland annual pass renewal will cost you in 2023:
- Disneyland Imagine Key renewal cost: $449. Previously, this pass cost $399.
- Disneyland Enchant Key renewal cost: $699. Previously, the pass cost $649.
- Disneyland Believe Key renewal cost: $1,099. Previously, the pass cost $949.
- Disneyland Inspire Key cost: $1,599. Previously, the Disneyland Dream Key cost $1,399.
The largest increase is from the old Dream Key to the replacement Inspire Key—an odd jump given that Disney reduced the perks of its premium pass.
What Are the Disneyland Magic Key Blockout Dates?
Blockout dates are days you cannot get into Disneyland using your annual pass. The cheaper the pass, the more blockout dates you’ll have to contend with. This is Disney’s strategy for keeping crowds at bay, especially during the busiest times of the year (like weekends, summer, and Christmas).

The biggest upset: Even the premium tier Disney Inspire Magic Key contains blockout dates around Christmastime. Here’s a full list of blockout dates for each Magic Key tier for 2023 and halfway through 2024.
