Your complete guide to Disney World New Year’s Eve events, including special meals, fireworks, and more at Walt Disney World Resort.

It’s almost time for New Year’s! If you’re planning on counting down to the new year in Disney World, we’re covering everything you need to know. From park hours to special celebrations, we’re sharing your complete guide to Disney World New Year’s Eve.

Disney World New Year’s Eve Overview

To celebrate New Year’s Eve, most of the parks will typically have extended hours, with some even showcasing special celebrations to ring in the new year. Additionally, select restaurants at Disney Springs and the Disney World Resort hotels offer exclusive meals and parties for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Let’s take a look at the park hours and special fireworks park-by-park.

Magic Kingdom Events

  • Park Hours: 8 AM to 1 AM
  • Fireworks: Fantasy in the Sky fireworks are available at 6:30 PM and 11:50 PM on both December 30 and December 31

At Magic Kingdom, you can celebrate with special fireworks on both December 30 and December 31. Each year, Magic Kingdom brings back the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks for New Year’s Eve, which is available at both 6:30 PM and 11:50 PM on each of those dates. Additionally, you can enjoy Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade on New Year’s Eve at 12 PM and 3 PM.

There are also typically special New Year’s Eve treats available at the park for the day.

EPCOT Events

  • Park Hours: 9 AM to 1 AM
  • Fireworks: So far, EPCOT has not released information on special New Year’s Eve fireworks. As of now, a 6:30 showing of Luminous The Symphony of Us is the only show on the calendar.

Typically, EPCOT will celebrate New Year’s Eve with a special fireworks celebration and DJ parties around the World Showcase. So far, nothing has been announced for 2023, with one showing of Luminous The Symphony of Us listed for 6:30 PM on December 31. We will update with any changes that are announced.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Events

  • Park Hours: 8:30 AM to 12 AM
  • Fireworks: Fantasmic! will be available at 8 PM and 9:30 PM, and Wonderful World of Animation will be available at 8:30 PM.

While Disney’s Hollywood Studios does not have an exclusive New Year’s Eve show, the park is open later for the night, closing at 12 AM. You can enjoy Fantasmic! at 8 PM and 9:30 PM, or the Wonderful World of Animation show at 8:30 PM.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Events

  • Park Hours: 8 AM to 8 PM
  • Fireworks: There are no fireworks celebrations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom never has fireworks so as not to disturb the animals at the park. However, the park is open a little later than usual during the holiday season, closing at 8 PM.

Disney Springs Events

  • Hours: 10 AM to 11:30 PM
  • Fireworks: While Disney Springs does not host its own fireworks, you may be able to see some of the park fireworks in the distance.

Disney Springs does not have its own fireworks show, but many restaurants in the complex tend to offer special New Year’s Eve meals. In the past, these have included events at restaurants such as The Edison, Maria and Enzo’s, Enzo’s Hideaway, Raglan Road, and more. We’ll update once we have more information on this year’s specific opportunities.

Disney World Resort Hotel Events

  • Alice’s Whimsical World of Wonderland at California Grill

Over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, California Grill is hosting a special New Year’s Eve Celebration: Alice’s Whimsical World of Wonderland. Fans of Alice in Wonderland will adore this particularly special themed event for New Year’s Eve! California Grill will be hosting Alice’s Whimsical World of Wonderland, transforming the restaurant into an “immersive romp through Wonderland.”

The night includes appearances by special characters, a DJ and music, food stations inspired by Alice and Wonderland, and more. Perhaps most importantly, it includes a champagne toast at midnight as you get prime viewing of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Tips for Spending New Year’s Eve at Disney World

If you’re visiting during the day, you’ll want to make sure to have your Park Pass reservation secured ahead of time, as the parks will be crowded. While park hopping is always an option, if you are planning to stay for the fireworks at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, you may want to plan to stay in one park for the day, as Disney World could limit additional guests at any point due to capacity.

Crowds in Fantasyland on New Year’s Eve

You’ll want to plan for the day to be crowded no matter what park you’re visiting. Make sure to take advantage of My Disney Experience when it comes to mobile ordering food, or checking on wait times. Expect the price for Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lanes to be particularly high, and weigh whether or not it’s worth it for your group.

While it may be particularly people-y at the parks, though, make sure to take in the special events for the day! This is a great time to check in on exclusive events like Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade at Magic Kingdom, which is only available for regular parkgoers right around the holidays.

And if you’ll be staying for the New Year’s Eve fireworks, stake out your spot early — it will be worth it! You can read all about the experience of visiting Magic Kingdom for New Year’s Eve here.
