Disney has shared the first teaser trailer for their upcoming Haunted Mansion movie, based on the iconic ride. The movie will be released in theaters on July 28, 2023.
Welcome, foolish mortals, to a new Haunted Mansion. Back in 2020, Disney shared that they would be taking another swing at a movie inspired by the iconic Haunted Mansion ride from the theme parks. Now, we have our first look at the upcoming film, which will be released in theaters on July 28, 2023.
The movie stars an impressive cast list, including Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Jared Leto, and Danny DeVito. Jamie Lee Curtis is also amongst the cast as the unforgettable Madame Leota, a name any Disney fan will recognize from the ride! In the new teaser trailer, we get our first look at the cast in character and our first glimpse at the most famous character of all — the Haunted Mansion.
The first clips from the film include a variety of references that fans of the ride will love to see, including the Hat Box Ghost, the stretching room, and even the iconic purple and black wallpaper. The trailer also sets the tone for what we can expect from the film, which seems to be a bit darker and scarier than Disney’s 2003 Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy, their first attempt at bringing the ride to the big screen. We’ll have to wait and see whether the spooky tone stays true when the movie opens in theaters on July 28 of this year.
