Disney Shares First Look and Release Date for ‘Moana 2’

In a surprise announcement, Disney revealed that ‘Moana 2’ is happening — and its release date is sooner than you may think!

It’s been an exciting year at the Disney Parks for Moana fans. In 2023, the title character began meeting guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, with the attraction Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana debuting at EPCOT as well. And now fans have something else to celebrate because a surprise announcement was just made about the future of the franchise.

Moana 2 Coming in 2024

In a surprising announcement during today’s quarter one earnings call, Bob Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, shared that Moana 2 is happening! And not only did he share that the sequel was coming, but that it’s coming far sooner than fans could’ve expected. The upcoming movie will be coming to theaters in November 2024! The Disney Animation Instagram shared a first look at the upcoming film, which you can watch below.

Not only did we get a first look at the video, but Disney also shared a still from the movie. In the photo, we can see Moana, Maui, Pua, Hei-Hei, and other unnamed characters looking down into the sea.

So far, we don’t have many details on what exactly the movie will entail, but we can’t wait to learn more! The film will be coming exclusively to theaters on November 24, 2024.
