The relationship between Make-A-Wish and the Walt Disney Company grows even stronger with the announcement of Josh D’Amaro as a new member of the charitable organization’s national board of directors.

The Walt Disney Company and Make-A-Wish have long been partners in making dreams come true. Today, the two announced a move that strengthens this partnership even further, bringing even more Disney magic into the foundation as Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, joins the national board of directors at Make-A-Wish.

D’Amaro has become a board member following the national board meeting on February 3, 2023. Along with Scooter Braun, CEO and board member of HYBE America and founder of SB Projects, D’Amaro brings his influence and leadership experience to this life-changing organization. And in their new role as board members, D’Amaro and Braun will both bring their skills, strategy, expertise, and talent to the Make-A-Wish mission to have a life-changing impact on more children with critical illnesses. 

The Connection Between Disney Parks and Make-A-Wish

D’Amaro is kind of the perfect fit for the Make-A-Wish national board of directors. As Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, D’Amaro is the individual who oversees Disney’s six theme park and resort destinations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He also oversees Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Vacation Club ownership program, the Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions travel programs, and Disney’s global consumer products operations, which includes the world’s leading licenses business across toys, apparel, home goods, digital games, and apps. Additionally, D’Amaro leads more than 150,000 individuals across many different facets of the business.

And Disney is the world’s largest wish granter through Make-A-Wish. Many of the company’s cast members interact with Make-A-Wish families, and since 1980 the Walt Disney Company has helped grant over 145,000 wishes worldwide. As a board member, D’Amaro will continue Disney’s legacy of top executives supporting Make-A-Wish through voluntary service.

About the Make-A-Wish National Board

The Make-A-Wish national board has 24 members, all of whom bring diverse backgrounds and skill sets to the organization. They offer support in key areas of the organization, such as human resources, finance, fundraising, management, marketing, and operations. With the skills of these talented leaders, Make-A-Wish is better equipped to fulfill its mission of granting the wish of every eligible child.
