We’ve got details on the cost of Individual Lightning Lanes (formerly called Individual Attraction Selections) at Walt Disney World – and which rides are pay-to-play.
If you’re hoping to save time and skip the long lines that snake around popular attractions at Walt Disney World’s theme parks, Disney Genie+ is a must. While Genie+ alone can help you plan your day and speed up your wait for many attractions throughout the parks, Lightning Lanes are key. What, exactly, is a Lightning Lane? We’ve got your guide.
Understand the ins and outs of using Genie+ Lightning Lanes and individual Lightning Lanes at Walt Disney World, and check out a full list, with prices, for these two add-ons.
What’s the Difference Between Genie+ Lightning Lanes and Individual Lightning Lanes?
For the price starting at $15 per person per day, Genie+ lets you cut the long lines on around 50 rides across the four parks using Lightning Lanes.
For that price, you’ll get to book a Lightning Lane for one attraction at a time; alternatively, you can book a second Lightning Lane 2 hours after booking your previous attraction (if still unused).

But on top of that, Disney offers the Individual Lightning Lane component of Disney Genie. When this service initially debuted in August 2021, Disney had branded it as “Individual Attraction Selections.”
With this service, you can pay individually for up to two rides a day for use of Lightning Lane at a specific time for the most popular rides at Disney World.
Note: Disneyland will do things a little differently, and the cost is $25 per day.

How Much Do Individual Attractions Cost?
Sure, you can buy two a la carte Lightning Lane passes on the most popular rides, on top of your Genie+ service, but how much do Individual Lightning Lanes cost, and will it be worth it?
The answer: The cost of Individual Lightning Lanes varies by ride, day, and other Disney algorithm variables. So, all we really know is the price for Individual Lightning Lanes (in old Disney speak, the cost of Individual Attraction Selections) will fluctuate, which is hard for some of us hardcore budget planners to stomach.
When Individual Lightning Lanes first launched in 2021, our editorial director got a preview of Individual Lightning Lanes the day before their debut and was able to compare prices for a few rides on two different days. She found that prices ranged from $10 to $15 per person.
However, a big change came to Genie+ and Lightning Lanes in October 2022: Disney implemented date-based pricing for the Genie+ service. This means that the price can vary even more signficantly than before. Now, when demand is high, the price of an Individual Lightning Lane can rise. And under this new date-based pricing system, prices have jumped from $20 to $22 per ride, per person.
During the 2022 holiday season, Individual Lightning Lane prices crept to new highs. Here’s a sample of the price ranges spotted late in the year:
- $20 to $22 for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- $15 to $17 for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- $12 to $15 for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- $12 to $15 for Avatar Flight of Passage
So, as you plan ahead for any Individual Lightning Lane purchases, you might want to err on the higher side to avoid any surprises. If you’re traveling at peak times throughout the year, it’s very likely you could see these prices change or hit new highs.
