Disney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board have announced that Singapore will be the home port for the seventh Disney Cruise Line ship starting in 2025.
Last year, Disney Cruise Line announced the acquisition of a partially completed ship, known as the Global Dream. The massive ship is being worked on to complete at the Meyer Werft shipbuilding company in Wismar, Germany, with plans to set sail in 2025. Now, we have more information on exactly where this ship will be heading, with a recent announcement from Disney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board. The seventh Disney Cruise Line ship will have its homeport in Singapore, with plans to sail exclusively from Singapore through Southeast Asia for at least five years beginning in 2025.
New Ship Will Have Homeport in Singapore
Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, S. Iswaran made the announcement of the collaboration between Disney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board.
“This is a very exciting year for The Walt Disney Company — 2023 marks our 100th anniversary,” D’Amaro said. “As part of this, Disney Cruise Line is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion with new ships and new destinations around the world. We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our seventh-launched ship, which will sail from here year-round starting in 2025.”
While details for the maiden voyage will be shared at a later date, Keith Tan, Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, shared his excitement on the project. “We look forward to welcoming the magic of Disney Cruise Line to Singapore in 2025. This is an important milestone for STB and reflects Disney Cruise Line’s strong confidence in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The new Disney cruise ship will be an attraction itself and is expected to boost the tourism sector in Singapore for many years to come.”
Plans for the Singapore port include travel through Southeast Asia. Singapore was chosen for its “strategic location” that features air connectivity and port infrastructure that will make it a “thriving cruise hub” for the Southeast Asia region.
Details on the Seventh Disney Cruise Line Ship
While further details will be shared at a later date, Disney did tease certain things that will be coming to the seventh ship. Right now, Disney Cruise Line estimates the passenger capacity will be about 6,000, with around 2,300 cruise members. The ship itself is also expected to be one of the first cruise ships fueled by green methanol, which is one of the lowest-emission fuels available.
Onboard, guests will be able to take in the features that have made Disney Cruise Line ships so iconic. There will be entertainment, dining, and plenty of characters to meet. Just a few of the characters guests can expect include Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse, Disney Princesses, and Marvel characters.
