Disney Cruise Line has announced that it will be extending their homeport partnership with the Port of San Diego through at least 2031, doubling the annual sailings together.
Big news for West Coast cruisers: Disney Cruise Line and the Port of San Diego have officially extended their homeport partnership through at least 2031 – and it’s set to make a major impact on future sailings.
The new agreement will approximately double the number of Disney Cruise Line sailings out of San Diego each year, giving guests far more opportunities to set sail from Southern California.
More Disney Cruise Line Sailings and More Itineraries from San Diego
For travelers, this expansion means one thing: more chances to cruise Disney-style without flying across the country. With increased departures, guests can look forward to a wider variety of itineraries sailing to:
- Catalina Island
- Baja California
- The Mexican Riviera
Expect more seasonal options and flexible sailing dates, making it easier than ever to plan a Disney cruise vacation that fits your schedule.

Jose Fernandez, Vice President of Port Strategy, Development & Operations for Disney Cruise Line, emphasized how important San Diego has become over the years, noting that the port has been a guest-favorite departure point for more than a decade. This extension supports Disney’s long-term growth while continuing to strengthen its West Coast presence.
A Boost for San Diego’s Cruise Industry
This partnership isn’t just good news for Disney fans; it’s also a major win for San Diego. The agreement includes non-exclusive priority access to both the North and South berths at the B Street Cruise Terminal, helping streamline operations and improve the guest arrival experience.
Over the course of the agreement, more than 1 million Disney Cruise Line passengers are expected to pass through San Diego. That level of commitment is especially notable, marking the first time in over 20 years that a cruise line has offered a minimum annual passenger guarantee at the port.
The economic impact is significant. Increased cruise activity supports local jobs, boosts tourism, and brings consistent business to waterfront shops, restaurants, and service providers.

Since first sailing from San Diego in 2012, Disney Cruise Line has remained actively involved in the local community. Beyond tourism, the company has partnered with organizations like Junior Achievement of San Diego and San Diego Coastkeeper to support youth education and environmental conservation.
Recent initiatives have included career development programs, financial literacy workshops for students, and environmental efforts aimed at protecting California’s coastline, reinforcing Disney’s broader commitment to making a positive impact wherever it sails.
What to Expect for the 2026–2027 Disney Cruise Line Season
The expanded partnership will be especially noticeable starting with the 2026–2027 sailing season, when San Diego will host two Disney ships:
- The Disney Magic arrives in October 2026, offering three- to seven-night sailings through November before embarking on a 14-night Panama Canal voyage to Galveston.
- The Disney Wonder will homeport in San Diego from October 2026 through April 2027, sailing three- to seven-night itineraries to destinations like Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada, Puerto Vallarta, and Catalina Island.
This marks a major expansion for Disney Cruise Line on the West Coast and gives guests even more ways to experience Disney at sea.
