A new Disney Cruise Line ship is coming to Japan! In an announcement, Disney and Oriental Land Co., Ltd. will collaborate on building a new Disney Cruise Line ship that will be based year-round in Japan.
We have an exciting few years ahead for Disney Cruise Line! Later this year, the Disney Treasure will have its maiden voyage, while the Disney Adventure will sail from Singapore in 2025. Following that, we expect cruising will be available on the upcoming Disney Destiny. And now, we have a new ship to look forward to in a brand new place.
Disney Cruise Line Coming to Japan
Disney and Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC) have announced a new agreement to bring year-round Disney Cruise Line vacations to Japan. Under the new signed agreement, OLC will operate a Disney-branded cruise business in Japan, with an expected launch date of early 2029. This is just the latest in this long 40+ year relationship, as OLC also owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort.
Just like the last few Disney Cruise ships, this upcoming ship will be constructed at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, with designs created by Walt Disney Imagineering. It will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish, featuring many of the venues and experiences from the ships but with modifications made with Japanese guests in mind. The ship is expected to have about 1,250 staterooms, and will be powered by liquefied natural gas.
Currently, the Disney Cruise Line fleet sails to The Bahamas, the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, the South Pacific, and Australia and New Zealand, with year-round cruises from Singapore planned for 2025 with the Disney Adventure. We’ll continue to update you on the latest with this new cruise ship!
