It’s just been announced that Disney Cruise Line is slashing the upfront deposit policy in half, so guests now need to pay just 10% upfront.
Disney has just made it dramatically easier to say yes to cruising, with minimal upfront cost. That’s because Disney Cruise Line has announced a new updated policy regarding their required deposits and cancellation fees. We’re sharing everything you need to know below!
Disney Cruise Line Deposit Policy Changes
Starting now, the required deposit for Disney Cruise Line reservations is changing from 20% to 10% of the voyage fare for new bookings. For existing reservations made on or before June 17, 2025, the original 20% deposit remains in place.
Similarly, cancellation fees will be based on the new deposit policy for sailings made on or after June 18, 2025. If a reservation is cancelled during the deposit cancellation fee period and the deposit was 10%, the cancellation fees will also be 10% of the voyage fare. For guests who booked before the policy change and paid a 20% deposit, the cancellation fee will be 20% of the voyage fare. That being said, deposits will continue to be non-refundable for Concierge guests.
For guests outside the cancellation fee period, if they’d prefer to take advantage of the new 10% deposit policy, they can cancel and rebook their reservations under the new terms.
Another change will be for guests who booked a Placeholder Reservation when they add a sail date to their reservation, if the sailing is seven nights or longer. For these guests, they will only need to pay a 5% deposit. If the reservation is cancelled outside the deposit cancellation fee period, there’ll be a 5% cancellation fee.
