Disney Cruise Line sent out new policy updates today, including new policies for carry-on alcohol, stateroom door decoration, and selfie sticks.
Disney Cruise Line is updating several onboard policies beginning next month, including changes to carry-on alcohol limits, selfie stick rules, and the popular stateroom door decorating tradition.
The updates appear on Disney Cruise Line’s website and will begin rolling out on sailings starting June 3, 2026. The changes focus largely on guest safety, shared space considerations, and protecting stateroom areas across the fleet.
Here’s a closer look at what Disney Cruise Line guests should know before sailing.
New Disney Cruise Line Carry-On Alcohol Policy
Disney Cruise Line has adjusted its alcohol policy for guests bringing beverages onboard at embarkation.
Under the updated policy, guests 21 and older may now carry on either one unopened bottle of wine or champagne (750 ml or smaller) or a six-pack of beer in their carry-on luggage at the start of the cruise (guests sailing on round-trip Singapore itineraries may do so beginning at age 18).

The cruise line also lowered its corkage fee. Guests who bring wine or champagne onboard and choose to enjoy it in the main dining rooms will now pay a $20 corkage fee per bottle, which is a reduction from the previous fee.
Disney Cruise Line continues to prohibit alcohol in checked luggage, and any alcohol purchased in ports of call will still be held until the end of the sailing. Opened bottles and excess quantities are also not permitted onboard.
New Disney Cruise Line Selfie Stick Policy
Disney Cruise Line has also updated its rules surrounding selfie sticks, extension poles, and tripods.
Under the new guidelines, selfie sticks and hand-held extension poles are permitted in most public areas on board as long as they remain folded and measure under 18 inches in length.

Longer photography equipment and tripods are still allowed onboard, but guests will need to store them inside their staterooms while at sea. Those larger items may only be used while visiting ports of call on land.
New Disney Cruise Line Door Decoration Policy
One of the most notable updates impacts a longtime Disney Cruise Line guest tradition: decorating stateroom doors.
While Disney Cruise Line still welcomes magnetic door decorations and celebratory displays, the cruise line is tightening restrictions on where decorations may be placed.

Going forward, decorations must remain only on the stateroom door itself. Decorations may no longer extend onto hallway walls or ceilings. Disney Cruise Line says the updated policy is intended to help keep corridors clear and accessible for all guests.
The updated guidelines also reiterate that tape, adhesives, and over-the-door organizers are prohibited because they can damage stateroom doors and trim. Guests who cause damage to doors may face repair fees.
Importantly, the policy does not appear to impact Fish Extenders, the popular Disney Cruise Line gift exchange tradition that uses hanging pocket organizers outside stateroom doors.
