Disney has shared a heartwarming story all about how a Disney World Cast Member inspired a young guest to fulfill her dream of becoming a Jungle Cruise Skipper!
If you grew up going to Disney World, you might have had dreams of one day getting to work in your happy place (or, in my case, writing about it!). Disney just shared a story on the Disney Parks Blog about exactly that. They shared the story of a young guest who met a Jungle Cruise Skipper, eventually befriending her and getting the chance to work beside her!

How a Disney Cast Member Inspired a Young Guest

Disney Parks Blog shared the story of Ashley, who made a particularly special Disney memory when she visited the parks at age six. During her visit, she had a special interaction with a Jungle Cruise Skipper named Heather, who named Ashley as her Junior Skipper during their voyage.
This experience ended up inspiring Ashley to dream of one day becoming a real-life Jungle Cruise Skipper herself. She shared that the moment of inclusion and accomplishment as a Junior Skipper was a “core memory.” This moment was made especially memorable because of the magic that Heather created.
A Cast Member That Became a Family Friend

After that trip, Ashley and her family ended up keeping in touch with Heather. This led to a 20-year relationship as Heather became more than just a Cast Member they were acquainted with — she became a friend. It was through this friendship that Ashley learned about the Disney College Program, which would lead her one step closer to fulfilling her dream of becoming a Skipper.

During the Disney College Program, Ashley got the chance to live out her dream, and she was surprised with the news by none other than Heather! “Looking at that little girl years ago, I would be in awe of myself,” said Ashley. “I would have never known with every Disney trip, it would strengthen the impact that Heather has had on me and inspire me to desire creating that same magic for others.”
Cast Members can truly create magic for guests at the Disney Parks, and this is one beautiful story to come out of it!
