You’ve got several resort options—each with its own personality, price point, and level of immersion into the wild world of Disney. Some put you right in the heart of the African savanna, while others offer value-friendly stays that keep you close to the magic without the luxury price tag.

But not all Disney resorts are created equal. Some deliver incredible theming and top-tier dining, while others feel more like a standard hotel that happens to be near Animal Kingdom. Whether you’re after adventure, luxury, or affordability, we’ve stayed at them all—and here’s how we rank the Animal Kingdom-area resorts from worst to best.

Here’s how we rank every Animal Kingdom-area hotel—from our least favorite to the one we’re constantly recommending.

Disney’s All-Star Sports

“Worst” is a strong word, but All-Star Sports lands at the bottom of our list for one reason: it feels the most dated. This resort celebrates everything athletic, from football and baseball to surfing, with larger-than-life icons like giant helmets and tennis rackets decorating the grounds. It’s fun for kids who love sports, but the theming can feel one-note, and the rooms are among the smallest at Disney World.

On the plus side, it’s usually the most affordable of the All-Star trio, and after a recent room refresh, everything feels cleaner and brighter. If budget is your main priority, All-Star Sports is a solid pick. But if you can stretch your budget just a bit, the other All-Stars offer more charm, in our opinion.

Disney’s All-Star Music

A step up in both theming and vibe, All-Star Music Resort celebrates a range of musical genres, from jazz to country to Broadway. It also has one big perk the other All-Stars lack: Family Suites, which can sleep up to six guests and include a small kitchenette. That makes it a great choice for larger families who want extra space on a budget.

The resort recently received room refurbishments, giving it a fresh and modern feel. Still, transportation can be a drawback; the All-Stars often share buses, and with Animal Kingdom about a 10-minute ride away, that can add up over multiple park days.

If you value affordability but need more space or a little extra style, All-Star Music hits a nice middle ground.

Disney’s All-Star Movies

Of the three All-Star Resorts, All-Star Movies wins for theming and nostalgia. You’ll find larger-than-life icons from Disney favorites like Toy Story, 101 Dalmatians, and Fantasia, making it the most “Disney” of the trio.

The rooms are small but modern, with Murphy beds that fold down for added space during the day. The food court is reliable, and kids will love the resort’s playful energy. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Moving into the Moderate Resort category, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort delivers a surprising amount of luxury for its price. The highlight is Gran Destino Tower, which offers a contemporary, upscale feel that rivals some Deluxe Resorts.

Dining is a major draw here; Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood, and Three Bridges Bar & Grill are among the best non-park restaurants at Disney World. The pool area, the Dig Site, is also massive, complete with a Mayan pyramid and a waterslide, and the resort’s sprawling grounds are beautifully designed.

The biggest downside? It’s a convention resort, so it can feel less “Disney” at times. It’s also huge, which can make it harder to navigate and get around, especially if your building is farther from the main lobby. But for those looking for great food, stylish rooms, and a touch of sophistication close to Animal Kingdom, Coronado Springs is a fantastic value.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village

Kidani Village, part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, offers a tranquil escape that feels worlds away from the theme parks. Designed with the same African-inspired architecture as its sister resort, Jambo House, Kidani is home primarily to Disney Vacation Club villas, which means larger rooms with kitchenettes or full kitchens, perfect for longer stays or families.

One of the biggest draws is the savanna views. Many rooms overlook the resort’s animal habitats, where giraffes, zebras, and antelopes roam freely. Watching wildlife from your balcony is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Kidani is also home to Sanaa, one of Disney’s most beloved restaurants that’s famous for its bread service and animal views. However, the resort’s layout can be confusing, and it’s a bit quieter than Jambo House. If you prefer a peaceful retreat with more space, Kidani Village is an excellent choice.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House

At the top of our list is the incomparable Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House. This Deluxe Resort is pure Disney storytelling at its best, combining breathtaking architecture, cultural authenticity, and up-close animal encounters unlike anywhere else in Orlando.

From the moment you enter the grand lobby (soaring ceilings, tribal art, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the savanna) you know you’re somewhere special. Guests can spot over 30 species of African wildlife right outside their rooms or along the resort’s viewing trails.

Dining here is a highlight: Boma – Flavors of Africa offers one of the best breakfast buffets on property; Jiko – The Cooking Place is a fine-dining gem; and The Mara is an excellent quick-service option. The pool area, complete with a waterslide and lush landscaping, adds to the resort’s appeal.

While it’s the furthest Deluxe from most parks (aside from Animal Kingdom, which is just a few minutes away by bus), the theming, service, and sense of immersion make it one of the most unforgettable stays at Walt Disney World.
