Did you know you can purchase custom Mickey Ears in Magic Kingdom? We’re sharing the secret to this incredible hidden souvenir.

There are quite a few certainties associated with a trip to Walt Disney World. You will most likely enjoy lots of delicious food, have a great time and buy souvenirs. Despite the adage that “we’ll hold off on souvenirs this trip,” somehow, we always come back home with something.

But how many Mickey ears, backpacks, or t-shirts can we have? While the answer is probably a lot, why not consider a unique and memorable souvenir on your next trip?  We’re unveiling the secret spot to find one of the best souvenirs at Disney World.

Custom Mickey Ears in Disney World

If you are anything like us, you probably love purchasing and wearing Mickey and Minnie Ears to the parks. We have a pair to match every outfit and we proudly wear them as we eat our Mickey Pretzels and Dole Whips. But what if we told you that you could have a pair of custom Mickey Ears? That sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it? You can actually get Mickey Ears customized at Walt Disney World! That’s right, you are able to get custom Mickey Ears made for any occasion. They make the perfect gift for others or even yourself and are super memorable.

Where to Buy Custom Mickey Ears

So, where can you get these customizable Mickey Ears?  Hop on board the Monorail and head over to Magic Kingdom Theme Park, home to this unique souvenir. Make your way down Main Street U.S.A. and veer left near Liberty Square. As soon as you enter the area, you’ll see Ye Olde Christmas Tree Shoppe across from the Hall of Presidents.

While most people think that they only sell Christmas ornaments, Ye Olde Christmas Tree Shoppe is actually home to the customizable ears. But, custom ears aren’t their only specialty. You can get custom ornaments here as well. You’ll find a cast member doing these customizations at a table in the corner. It’s so fun to watch your creations come to life!

How Does it Work?

What’s the process to actually get these ears customized? Most customizations are done on Ear Hats or the plain black leather Mickey Ears. While most of the time, Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe does have these ears in stock, we suggest checking out the Emporium first. You are able to bring them with you to the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, and sometimes the availability might be better at the Emporium.

Once you head over to the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, don’t wait in the front line or the one you meet when you first come in from Main Street. Although you’ll see the customized ears on display here, you’ll need to walk through the store to the back left, where you’ll find a desk devoted to customizations.

There are a myriad of customizations that can be made to the ears. They will ask you questions like font, color, add-on designs, free designs and more. Depending on the occasion, you can add things like graduation caps, fireworks, and even spiderwebs for Halloween!

Here is a breakdown of the current pricing for custom Mickey Ears as of May 2024. Keep in mind the customizations are not eligible for Disney Vacation Club or Annual Passholder discounts.

  • Name, Year, or Number Add: $5
  • Month, Day and Year Add: $15
  • Additional Word: Add $5
  • Additional Artwork Selections: $5

Once you place your order with the cast members, they will give you an approximate return time to the store. One thing they do mention is that if you do not come back by the time the park closes for the day, they do not hold them for you to pick them up the next day. We aren’t really sure what happens to them if you don’t pick them up, but if you are paying that price for customizations, you’ll probably want to come back before the park closes. They also take your cell phone number, and they text you once your order is ready. Timing ranges but our experience was around 2 ½ hours for our order to be ready.

Pro Tip: Remember, if you are picking up the ears after 8 PM, you’ll most likely run into firework crowds so make sure that you take the shortcut through the Emporium to get to Liberty Square and head the same way back to avoid sheer chaos.
