How to Save Money Without a Discount
To get a Walt Disney World Resort for cheap any time of year, try booking during the right season.
- Value 1 Season: Book in January or February to get a lowered price on all resorts. (and mid-August through mid-September for Deluxe Resorts).
- Value 2 Season: Your second-best option for a cheap booking date is mid-July through mid-August for Deluxe Resorts and mid-August through mid-September for Value and Moderate Resorts.
- Fall Season: Mid-September through Mid-December, you can get a sensible resort rate. If you want to experience Disney Christmas without the crowds or higher prices, pick a date during the first couple weeks of December or November. The holiday decorations will be up (and Festival of the Holidays will be happening at EPCOT).
How to Avoid Higher Rates: Avoid holidays if you want to avoid not only high resort room prices, but also intense crowds. A lot of people make it a family tradition to visit Walt Disney World during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Think not only about the resort room cost but also how much ticket time you’ll spend waiting in long lines and wading through pedestrian traffic in the parks. Also, consider avoiding the summer months… many families go during this time because their kids are out of school, but this is the hottest (read: miserable) time to be in Orlando. Be conscious of how much enjoyment you’ll get out of your trip if everyone is sweating their Mickey ears off.
