Disney World COVID-19 rules are ever-evolving as we learn more about the virus and how to prevent the spread. With so many changes over the last couple of years, it can be difficult to keep track of our expectations at the parks. Here are the current COVID-19 rules and safety policies happening at Walt Disney World. Photo by Rain Blanken[/caption] Quick Rules: Masks are now optional everywhere on Disney World property. Guests must still make park reservations (see below) Mobile Order is still the norm at many dining locations. Temperature checks are long gone Character Greetings and live entertainment are back (see below) 1. Face Coverings Face mask policies have evolved in the past year. Please check My Disney Experience to confirm the latest information. Mask Update Timeline: Not sure when you heard the last Disney World Covid rules regarding masks? Here is a timeline of mask rule updates to settle your debate: Starting February 17, 2022, the mask policy has changed for vaccinated guests. Vaccinated guests are welcome to remove masks in indoor areas, but bus and monorail transportation still require a mask to be in place on all guests. Previously, masks were optional in outdoor areas, required in all indoor areas. Starting March 15, 2022, masks became optional on Skyliner and Starcruiser Transport. As of April 19, 2022, masks became optional on ALL Disney Workd transportation. This was the last holdout for mask mandates. All areas on WDW are now mask optional. 2. Advance Park Reservations The park reservation system is still in effect. This means you'll need to secure your chosen park via the My Disney Experience app, or online when purchasing tickets. Most locations still use a QR code to view dining menus via My Disney Experience. Paper menus are again available at many restaurants. How to Use Mobile Order at Disney World 4. Character Greetings and Encounters Chatacter Greetings are BACK! It's time to hug Mickey again: See details here. Guests can still see their favorite characters waving from the train station in Magic Kingdom, frolicking in the grass in EPCOT, and otherwise saying "hi" and posing for photos. 6. Photo by Todd Turner[/caption] Stage shows and parades are slowly returning to the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs. A LOT of live entertainment is back. Check My Disney Experience for daily showtimes and modifications. Here is a bit of what you can expect at the parks: Magic Kingdom Highlights: Festival of Fantasy parade is back! Get details and showtimes here. Disney Enchantment is back for nightly oohs and ahhs. Look for the Dapper Dans and even the Country Bears waving from up high in Frontierland. EPCOT Highlights: Harmonius is here! The all-new nighttime spectacular closes out the evening in World Showcase. The 2022 Flower and Garden is again featuring the Garden Rocks Concert Series along with delicious booths. Hollywood Studios: For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration is open once again, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage is back, as well as the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. Sporadic character cavalcades will be coming down the street to say hello! Voyage of the Little Mermaid remains closed. Animal Kingdom: Kevin has returned to wander the park, the Wilderness Explorers are yet again exploring the land, and Festival of the Lion King is bobbing to the beat! Kite Tails has joined in the fun and look for character flotillas making their way through the park waters. Disney Springs: Performers are back at the stage across from World of Disney at Disney Springs, and you'll likely find your favorite street performers sprinkled around the shopping district, too. Florida COVID-19 Restrictions Florida has one of the loosest COVID-19 restriction policies in America. In November 2021, Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation that prevented COVID-19 vaccine mandates across the state. There is not a statewide mandate to wear masks. Walt Disney World is on private property, so the rules may vary from the state mandate. Check your local rules around required testing for return flights to your area. Flying to Disney World from Canada During the Pandemic Disney World Park and Resort Closures Walt Disney World parks and resorts closed in March of 2020 to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. In the past couple of years, the resorts and parks have slowly reopened. Right now, all of the Walt Disney World resorts have reopened. All parks have reopened.
