The Heartbeat of New Orleans – A Living Mural Opens in September
Disney has revealed that a brand-new nighttime show will light up the waters of the Rivers of America. And keeping with the spirit of New Orleans Square (and the recently opened Tiana’s Palace restaurant!), this entertainment offering will bring the spirit of the city to life in an incredible way.
The new nighttime show, called The Heartbeat of New Orleans – A Living Mural, will open on September 29, 2023. Set to a dynamic jazz score, it’ll include projections on the Rivers of America that tell the whimsical tale of a mischievous frog from the bayou. That frog leaps into New Orleans, lured by the catchy, jazzy sounds of the city, and winds up having quite an adventure!
The Heartbeat of New Orleans – A Living Mural will include original animated artwork by Marcella “Marci” Swett, a graphic designer with Disney Live Entertainment who’s best-known for her chalk art displayed at Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District during the annual Celebrate Soulfully event.
This nighttime show will occur on select evenings throughout the fall. During the holiday season, you can catch it nightly!
Queenie and the Jambalaya Jazz Band Will Also Entertain Guests
If you’re hoping to catch the sounds of New Orleans while you’re wandering through Disneyland, you won’t want to miss Queenie and the Jambalaya Jazz Band! This is a show that’ll move you – almost literally, thanks to the floating raft they play atop! – as it winds around the Rivers of America. Featuring vibrant New Orleans-inspired decor, eye-catching fountains, and bright, colorful lighting, this is a nighttime performance that’ll captivate with its sounds and its ambiance.
While Queenie and the Jambalaya Jazz Band are currently performing their high-energy tunes for Disneyland Guests who walk or watch along the banks of the Rivers of America, you’ll also be able to catch their performances on select nights throughout the fall. Come the holiday season, they’ll perform nightly.
