My son and I assembled the Contemporary Resort gingerbread house for a dose of Disney Christmas magic at home.
Bored with the graham cracker house adorned with leftover Halloween candy? Then this gourmet gingerbread resort may be just your style. Pop on over to the Contemporary Resort to find a gingerbread creation with a Disney twist.
Head Over to the Contempo Cafe

The gingerbread kit is available among many other yummy pastries at the Contempo Cafe in Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It is not available via mobile order so you must order and pay at the register. The kit is priced at $35 plus tax.
Parking can be a challenge at this resort. If you are not a guest or do not have a reservation, I recommend parking at the Ticket and Transportation Center or dropping by after a day at Magic Kingdom.
If you’re getting on the monorail just to go to get the kit for the Contemporary Resort gingerbread house, you might as well make it a gingerbread-themed day and stop at the Grand Floridian to admire the massive gingerbread house on display.
The Fun Starts at Home

The kit was given to us in two parts: the four gingerbread pieces and box with the included toppings.
Everything included to decorate is edible, and, from what we tasted, seems to be of a high quality. The flower and white chocolate monorails are our favorites!

The Walt Disney World 50th anniversary medallion was also a nice add. I honestly was super impressed that the snowman was also a chocolate candy.
Prepping to Build Your Contemporary Resort Gingerbread House

There is a little bit of prep required for this fun activity. Included are instructions to make the royal icing (ingredients and icing were not included). This caught me a little off guard, but fortunately I had the necessary ingredients at home.
Here’s what you’ll need for the icing: cream of tartar, 4 egg whites, lemon juice, and 5 cups of sugar.
I also recommend having a medium-size piece of cardboard covered in foil to build your house on. This will help reduce mess and make it a little more mobile.
Creating Your Contemporary

After making the icing, we got to work. It was so much fun arranging all the decorations … some of them were so intricate!
Most of them also tasted good … I mean, I’ve heard they taste good … who would eat the decorations?! 😉

All of them are edible though, except the center of the flower, should you choose to consume the kit instead.
Creating the gingerbread resort is the most fun. There is not one right way to build, and the creative possibilities are endless. One thing is for sure, make sure to include your iconic white chocolate monorail in your gingerbread construction.
Great Family Bonding

This was such a fun holiday activity to do with my son. Make a monorail loop trip to pick it up either beginning or ending with the gingerbread house at Grand Floridian to add to the fun and inspiration, or reward your little builders with a day of fun at Magic Kingdom before attempting the build at home.
We are proud of our creation and have it proudly on display in our home … and it smells wonderful! We highly approve this take-home creation.
