The Story of Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney

Drawn to Life brings together the brilliant imaginations behind Cirque du Soleil, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Walt Disney Imagineering. And you can bet that the results are going to be stunning.

Disney touts the story of Drawn to Life as “a love letter to the art of Disney animation.” This family-friendly show will follow a father and his daughter as they take an unforgettable trip through more than a century of Disney creations.

Drawn to Life, written and directed by Michel Laprise, tells the tale of Julie, a young girl who has been left with an unfinished animation created by her father. This leads her on a quest into her memories, which are colored by iconic Disney characters. She’s accompanied by Mr. Pencil, a character unique to the show.

The Imaginations Behind Drawn to Life

Because Walt Disney Imagineering is on board, you’re virtually guaranteed a world-class, Hollywood-quality production replete with that glittering Disney magic. And thanks to the team at Walt Disney Animation Studios, the show will feature brand-new animation to guide the story along.

A team of artists headed up by Eric Goldberg created the show’s unique animations. Goldberg is perhaps best known for animating Genie from Aladdin, and he promises a show filled with familiar faces.

“I think guests will be amazed to see how the magic of Cirque du Soleil and the art of Walt Disney Animation Studios have come together to bring life to classic and current characters like Baloo, Baymax, and Cinderella in ways that no one has ever imagined,” said Goldberg.

And since the show features performers from the legendary Cirque du Soleil, there will be 10 incredible acrobatic acts that will keep you talking about Drawn to Life well after the curtains have drawn closed.

The Show Must Go On … and It Will

Originally, Disney and Cirque du Soleil had planned to launch Drawn to Life last spring. However, the pandemic put a temporary pause on the production as it did so many others around the world.

Though the show was in final rehearsals as the pandemic went into effect, the performers were far from discouraged. Members of the cast stayed in shape over the last several months, training for the call to come back.

And all their hard work is finally about to pay off. We’re less than two months away from the first show at Disney Springs—and only a few days away from the chance to secure Drawn to Life tickets.

This will be a huge show for both Cirque du Soleil and Disney. For the former, it’s the 50th production in the company’s history. And it just so happens to arrive right around the time that Walt Disney World kicks off its 50th anniversary celebrations. Synergy!

With tickets going on sale very soon and the opening performance just up around the bend, expect more details on Drawn to Life presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney in the days and weeks ahead.
