Forget about the thrilling coasters and character encounters, because one of the slowest-moving attractions at Magic Kingdom is also one of the best (at least, in my opinion!).
Magic Kingdom is home to some of the best attractions at Disney World. From modern thrill rides like TRON Lightcycle/Run to nostalgic favorites like Peter Pan’s Flight, there’s something for just about every type of parkgoer—including a few attractions that have earned a reputation for being a little, well, boring.
But don’t be fooled. Some of Magic Kingdom’s slower, simpler attractions are also the ones I find myself appreciating more with every visit. And as someone who spends plenty of time in the parks, I’m here to tell you that the PeopleMover might sound “boring” on paper, but it’s also one of the best things you can do at Magic Kingdom.
Here’s why you should stop skipping the PeopleMover and spend a few minutes taking it slow in Tomorrowland.
The PeopleMover Offers a Unique Vantage Point
One of my favorite things about the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (yes, that’s its full name!) is the unique perspective it gives you of Magic Kingdom.

The elevated track takes you around Tomorrowland, offering views you simply can’t get while walking through the park. Along the way, you’ll travel through and around several Tomorrowland attractions while also catching glimpses of Cinderella Castle and other parts of Magic Kingdom.
If you’re a photographer like me, it’s also a fun opportunity to get some shots from a completely different perspective.
You’ll Enjoy a Break From Walking (and the Sun)
When you’re at any Disney World theme park, you’re likely to set some personal step records. I regularly exceed 20,000 steps on park days, and I know how tough that can be on your feet! That’s why any time there’s an opportunity to give your feet a break, you should take it. And what better way to give yourself a walking break than to enjoy the views on the PeopleMover?
Thanks to the length of the PeopleMover’s tour of Tomorrowland – which takes 10 minutes – you’ll enjoy a decently lengthy ride that actually feels restful.
Depending on when you visit, central Florida can be a hot and humid mess. So when you’re trying to find some respite from the sun in Magic Kingdom, the PeopleMover should be at the top of your list. Not only is it covered, but the movement creates a nice gentle breeze. A cool, sitting break while zipping around iconic Tomorrowland attractions? Sign me up.
The PeopleMover Has No Height Restriction

Since the PeopleMover doesn’t have any height restrictions, it’s truly a family-friendly attraction. The speed is tame enough for both little kids and elderly riders. You can even bring babies along for a ride.
It’s worth noting that there is a section where the ride goes through a pitch-black dark area, which might be scary for young ones. But other than that, it’s definitely a ride that the whole family can enjoy!
There’s Never a Long Wait for the PeopleMover
Lastly, the PeopleMover usually doesn’t have long wait times. And even if the lines are long, the ride is continuously moving, which makes the line move quickly. So it’s likely that you can hop on relatively quickly whenever you get the itch to hitch a ride on the PeopleMover.
Trust me: The next time you’re visiting Magic Kingdom, don’t count out the PeopleMover. This slow-moving attraction has a dedicated fan following for a reason. It may not be the most thrilling or even modern ride, but it’s always fun and relaxing.
