Best Places to View the Magic Kingdom Parades

by | Jun 12, 2024 | Walt Disney World

Wondering what the best viewing spots are for the Magic Kingdom parades? One of the most fun parts of visiting Magic Kingdom is seeing the parades featuring your favorite characters. Here are the best places to view the Magic Kingdom parades.

A trip to Walt Disney World is filled with theme parks, attractions, and entertainment. One of the most popular forms of entertainment that guests love is the parades that go down the heart of Main Street U.S.A.

But did you know that you don’t actually have to stake out your spot on Main Street, U.S.A. for an amazing view of the parade? That’s right, there are some other places around Magic Kingdom that have fantastic parade views and are easy to walk right up to. These are some of the best places to view the Magic Kingdom parades.

Magic Kingdom Parades

Magic Kingdom is home to one official parade all year, as well as two cavalcades. Festival of Fantasy is the official parade, while Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade happens sporadically throuhgout the day. And on rainy days, you can catch the Rainy Day Cavalcade.

Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade

The Festival of Fantasy Parade celebrates Disney magic in an ode to Fantasyland and all of its tales. You’ll see some of your favorite Disney Characters from Tangled, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and more. Enchantment abounds with floats, characters, and music. There might also be some fire involved but you didn’t hear that from us!

This parade kicks off in the space between Frontierland and Adventureland each day at 3 PM. You can expect it to slowly make its way through Frontierland through Liberty Square and then down Main Street. If you are near Main Street, remember you won’t see the parade at 3 PM. You can expect to see the parade about 15 to 20 minutes after the start of the parade.

Rainy Day Cavalcade

If you are visiting Walt Disney World during the rainy season, you might be able to see the Rainy Day Cavalcade. A mini-parade that is the substitute for the Festival of Fantasy Parade, the Rainy Day Cavalcade is usually what is used when there is inclement or stormy weather. You’ll typically still see characters, such as Mickey and his friends and the Princesses, but they are usually covered to protect from rain.

The kick-off location is similar to the Festival of Fantasy Parade and takes the same route as its counterpart. Stay up-to-date with current show times on the My Disney Experience app.

Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade

Twice during the day, you can watch a smaller parade go down the parade route featuring some unique characters. In the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade, you can enjoy appearances by Bruno from Encanto, Miguel from Coco, and others. Typically both will take place throughout the morning, so check your My Disney Experience app for your showtimes.

Magic Kingdom Parade Viewing Locations

While we talked about the two year-round parades you’ll have a chance to see, there are also other parades for holidays during the year that you can view from our favorite spots.

Anywhere in Frontierland

Since the parades begin next to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (formerly Splash Mountain) and head through Frontierland, any spot in this area will be a great viewing area. I’ve found frontline spots 10 minutes before holiday parades in this area and had amazing views. While the backdrop might not be the most scenic, we love Fantasyland because of the abundance of space. You won’t feel cramped when everyone else is heading down to Liberty Square and onto Main Street, U.S.A. and you’re sneaking into Adventureland the back way.

Liberty Square Near the Liberty Bell

Another great spot to view the parades is near the Liberty Bell in Liberty Square. This area, including in front of Liberty Tree Tavern and the Hall of Presidents, still allows you to see Main Street,U.S.A. but is still far enough away to avoid those crowds. This spot also still gives you access to Fantasyland, allowing you to avoid those crowds headed to Main Street.

Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station

If scenic views behind the floats are what you are interested in, we suggest heading towards Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station. If you get there early enough and head up the stairs, you’ll have a front row view of the floats straight down Main Street, U.S.A. Without the parades, the view from here is amazing and we highly recommend you take some pictures there. But, you’ll also see some killer views of the floats. If you can’t score a spot in front at the train station, even being near the staircases or in front of the train station will give great views. Most people will pack onto Main Street, U.S.A. itself but fan out around this area making it less hectic.

Should You Avoid Main Street, U.S.A.?

While we love watching the parades from here with the castle in the distance, it can get quite busy and packed because everyone else loves that view too! We won’t say to totally avoid it, but we will say to remember that there will probably be more people in this area.
