The Best Places to Watch the Magic Kingdom Fireworks…That Aren’t in Front of Cinderella Castle

by | Nov 14, 2023 | Magic Kingdom, WDW Blog

Wondering where the best place to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks is? While the best views may come from Cinderella Castle hub or Mains Street, U.S.A., we’re sharing some of the best alternative places to watch the show!

For many, Happily Ever After is something that just simply cannot be put into words. Whether you are experiencing it for the first time or fiftieth, this spectacular firework display has a way of becoming a core memory for most. To enjoy the show in its entirety, the Cinderella Castle hub or along Main Street, U.S.A. are usually the best locations to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. However, these spots are not the only places where you can watch the fireworks portion of the show.

Best Place to Watch the Magic Kingdom Fireworks (That’s Not in Front of Cinderella Castle)

Whether you’re looking to avoid the big gathering crowds or even if you’re just wanting to change up how you normally take in this delightful nighttime production, here are some alternative spots to try viewing the Magic Kingdom fireworks:

Fantasyland

Some guests are now choosing to watch the fireworks from behind Cinderella Castle instead of in front. Though you miss out on the castle projection show, you actually increase your chances of being graced by royalty instead.

On select nights, some of the Disney Princesses can be found roaming around Fantasyland and interacting with guests during the fireworks. It isn’t guaranteed that you’ll see them every evening, but you may just get lucky and enjoy this very magical experience!

Tangled Bathrooms

With those floating lanterns all aglow, this park location makes for another enchanting place to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks! Grab a seat on one of the benches and enjoy the show!

Riding an Attraction

You may not get to see the full illuminating display, but seeing fireworks while riding an attraction really makes for another unique viewing experience (and bonus, you get to take advantage of shorter lineups while everyone else is at the front of the castle).

If you time things just right, you should be able to see some fireworks while on attractions like Dumbo, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the People Mover, to name a few!

Dessert Parties

Looking for snacks to go with watching the show? Then a Walt Disney World Dessert Party may just be the perfect experience for you to try! Enjoy a collection of delicious desserts as you take in the park’s firework extravaganza.

The Ferryboat

Once again, if you are able to get the timing just right, you can watch the fireworks display while traveling on the ferry back to the Transportation and Ticket Center. This not only makes for a lovely experience while on the water, but you also get a head start on the crowds that will soon be following once the show is over!

Disney World Hotels

You can still enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks from a distance, even from one of the surrounding resorts. The Magic Kingdom area resorts such as Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort have spots where you can view the fireworks from afar.

The resorts will also play the music that accompanies the show over the speakers so you can still hear the audio portion that goes along with it. Depending on your location, you may also have a chance to watch the Electrical Water Pageant that normally happens pre-fireworks!

Stream It From Your Resort Room

If you’re struggling to make it until the end of the day, have no fear of missing out, because you can still experience virtual fireworks! If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World resort, you can stream a pre-recorded show right from your room, allowing you to still be a part of the magic all from the comfort of your bed.

It’s said that Walt Disney himself used to refer to the park fireworks as a “kiss goodnight.” This was his way of thanking guests for coming to the park that day. It doesn’t matter where you choose to take in the Magic Kingdom fireworks, so long as you enjoy them, and cherish this magical thank you with all your heart.
