If you’re driving a car and looking for the best way to park hop at Disney World, one expert shares the park to consider starting at.
Magic Kingdom may have one of the busiest parking lots since it’s one of the most visited parks, but allow me to explain why I prefer to leave my car at this centrally-located area when park hopping for the day.
I’m a Disney World Annual Passholder and park regular who knows how to get around without wasting too much time finding open parking spaces, because this particular Walt Disney World park gives me convenient access to the rest.
From this park, I can get to the remaining three by boat, bus, Skyliner, or the monorail. The heart of EPCOT’s world showcase is accessible from here as well, and the parking lot — which has running trams throughout the day for those who park towards the back — is pretty simple to navigate. It makes things much easier.
The park itself ranks last on my list of favorites, so I don’t go inside as much. Come to think of it, I’ve only gone inside a handful of times since I’ve had my annual pass. But the focus of this article is the best Walt Disney World location to park. Let’s get back to that.
Why Hollywood Studios is the Best Park for Park Hoppers
What makes Hollywood Studios such a strategic starting point is its transportation access. No other Disney World park gives you so many easy ways to reach the others without constantly backtracking to your car.

From Hollywood Studios, you can:
- Ride the Disney Skyliner directly to EPCOT’s International Gateway
- Take a Friendship Boat to EPCOT, Disney’s BoardWalk, Yacht Club, and Beach Club
- Hop on a Disney bus to Animal Kingdom
- Reach Magic Kingdom by transferring through EPCOT and taking the Monorail
It’s basically Disney transportation headquarters.
And unlike the Transportation and Ticket Center at Magic Kingdom, the Hollywood Studios parking lot is straightforward and relatively easy to navigate. Even when the lot fills up, trams usually run consistently throughout the day, which makes getting back to your car much less exhausting after a long park-hopping marathon.
EPCOT Access is the Real Game Changer
The biggest reason I start at Hollywood Studios is how quickly I can get into EPCOT. The Skyliner is often the fastest option, while the Friendship Boats offer a more relaxing route if you’re not in a rush. Both drop you near EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance, which places you directly inside World Showcase instead of at the front of the park.

That’s a massive advantage if your goal is grabbing snacks at EPCOT festivals, riding Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, or ending your evening around Crescent Lake.
For park hoppers, this setup feels much easier than starting at EPCOT itself and trying to work backward later in the day.
Hollywood Studios Works Best as a “Home Base”
Ironically, Hollywood Studios is rarely the park where I spend the most time.I love attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and Toy Story Land, but it’s also the park where I tend to run out of things to do the fastest. Wait times can get intense, and many of the rides lean more thrill-heavy than the attractions I usually gravitate toward.

That actually makes it the perfect “home base” park. I can knock out a few attractions early, then easily pivot somewhere else depending on my mood. Animal Kingdom for atmosphere. EPCOT for food. Magic Kingdom for nighttime rides and fireworks.
Hollywood Studios gives me flexibility without feeling locked into one part of Disney World all day.
The Worst Place to Park for Park Hopping
On the opposite end of the spectrum? Magic Kingdom.
Technically, you’re parking at the Transportation and Ticket Center, not the park itself, and that extra step becomes frustrating fast. After parking, you still need to take either the Monorail or Ferryboat just to reach the entrance gates.

At the end of a long night, that return trip can feel brutal. And while Magic Kingdom is iconic, it’s not ideal as a park-hopping starting point because transportation to the other parks usually requires extra transfers and more time.
If convenience is your priority, I’d avoid beginning your day there entirely.
My Park-Hopping Strategy
If I’m driving and planning to visit multiple parks, I almost always start at Hollywood Studios in the morning and finish my night elsewhere. It cuts down on transportation stress, gives me multiple backup routes if Disney transit gets crowded, and makes spontaneous park changes much easier.
At Disney World, saving even 30 minutes of travel time can completely change how your day feels. And after parking at every single park over the years, Hollywood Studios is still the one I’d choose first every time.
