Why do we have to wait so long to board the Disney Wish? No, it’s not just COVID.

In fact, the ship isn’t even completely built!

Please allow a brief intermission for me to try my dad joke for the day. “You don’t Noah just how long it takes to build a ship.”

… Is that Jiminy Cricket I hear chirping …

OK, I’ll see myself out and just leave you with these behind-the-scenes construction photos of the Disney Wish.

At the wheelhouse, more informally called the bridge, the captain and their officers steer the ship and chart a safe course for its passengers. This section of the ship is nearing completion and is set to be installed on the Disney Wish sometime soon.

Disney Wish Photos: Bow Installation

The wheelhouse may be slated next for installation, but just before it came the bow. Disney reports that the bow has just been installed; this is where we can expect to see Captain Minnie.

The bow of the Disney Wish weighs a whopping 500 metric tons. I’m no math expert (that’s why I write about Disney, not engineer the rides there), but that comes out to more than 1.1 million pounds. Just for the bow!

I have to imagine that Bob Parr and Hercules together couldn’t lift that thing. It’s no wonder that it took Disney 10 hours to lift, install and weld the bow to the rest of the ship.
