New Details on Avatar Land Coming to Disneyland

At D23: The Ultimate Fan Experience, more information was revealed on the upcoming Avatar-themed land that will be coming to Disney California Adventure.

In February 2023, Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger made headlines when he teased that “an exciting Avatar experience” was in the future for Disneyland Resort (as reported by the OC Register). Since then, further confirmation or news on the planned experience has been light — until now.

Avatar-Based Land Coming to Disneyland

Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro revealed at D23 that the new Avatar land will be coming to Disney California Adventure. However, this will not be a carbon copy of what already exists at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Instead, the land will take guests to a brand new land in Pandora. Pandora—The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is based upon the original Avatar film, but this new destination will draw inspiration from Avatar: The Way of Water and the forthcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash.

A new Avatar attraction coming to Disney California Adventure will send guests on the adventure of a lifetime in search of majestic natural wonders that only can be found on Pandora and the beauty – and danger – that come along with the journey.

That will include brand new, original attractions you won’t find anywhere else, which Disney shared concept images for along with the presentation. Want to learn more about the big announcements coming for the Disney Parks? Make sure to check out our full list of news from D23.
