Here’s your round-up of August 2021 Disney World refurbishments for closed attractions and resorts.
If you’re planning on visiting Walt Disney World (WDW) in August, you’ll want to know which attractions and resorts may not be up and running.
Guess what? We’ve got all that good-good info you need! Each month, we compile a list of everything we know that’s either currently being refurbished or is set for refurbishment.
If you’re making your big return to WDW in August, you’ve picked a great time. Four major attractions are reopening in August and the Audio-Animatronic of President Joe Biden will debut at the Hall of Presidents.
With that, let’s take a look at the current refurbishment schedule!
Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Railroad: The Walt Disney World Railroad remains closed while construction continues on TRON Lightcycle Power Run. When a reopening date is announced, you’ll find it at WDW Magazine.
The Hall of Presidents: It’s time again to hail to the chief! The Hall of Presidents will reopen in August with the new Audio-Animatronic of President Joe Biden.
Main Street Confectionery: Main Street’s favorite sweet shop remains closed for refurbishment as it undergoes improvements. But don’t fret! You can get still get the goods over at Emporium and Main Street Cinema until the Confectionary reopens.
The Chapeau: The Chapeau closed on March 29 for refurbishment and still doesn’t have a set return date. You can get your Mickey Mouse ears and other hats at Box Office Gifts at the Town Square Theater for the time being. There’s also commemorative artwork and collectibles available at Bonjour! Village Gifts.
Baby Care Center: Baby Care Center is shooting for a fall opening date with a new theme and more capacity. A temporary Baby Care Center has been set up in Tomorrowland at the former AAA Lounge next to the Carousel of Progress.
Animal Kingdom

There aren’t any scheduled refurbishments for Animal Kingdom at this time. Be sure to say hi to the new baby gorilla and hippo!
EPCOT

There aren’t any scheduled refurbishments for EPCOT at this time. Turtle Talk with Crush is reopening in late August, so start thinking of questions to ask your favorite sea turtle.
Keep in mind that heavy construction continues throughout the park, so expect lots of construction walls in Future World.
Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is not expecting any refurbishments at this time. If you’re visiting from Aug. 15, you can experience the magic of a tale as old as time once again with the reopening of Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage.
WDW Resort Hotels

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Photo by Mike Billick
Disney’s Contemporary Resort: Refurbishment is still ongoing in the first-floor lobby and in guest rooms. Through September, front desk and concierge services have moved to the second floor.
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa: The Guest Arrival experience at Saratoga Springs is undergoing refurbishment through October.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort: Disney’s hoping to give Old Key West the rootinest and tootinest check-in experience possible, and so that area will be under refurbishment through September.
WDW Transportation

The Disney Skyliner is scheduled for a quick refurbishment in January 2022. Photo Courtesy of Disney Parks Blog
Disney Skyliner: From Sunday, Jan. 23 through Thursday, Jan. 28, 2022, the Disney Skyliner will close between the International Gateway, Disney’s Riviera Resort, and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. Guests will still be able to use Disney bus transportation and FriendShip boat service during that time.
August 2021 Disney World Refurbishments
If you arrive at WDW and find one of your faves is closed, it happens. Rides close regularly for updates and quick fixes, so any unexpected closures will likely only last for a short while. If nothing else, it’s just another excuse to come back and experience the magic again.
