Alien Swirling Saucers Is Getting a New Soundtrack

by | Sep 17, 2026 | Disney's Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World

Lilypad, a new character from Toy Story 5, is taking over the turntables at Alien Swirling Saucers with remixed favorites, original songs, and new entertainment throughout Toy Story Land.

Alien Swirling Saucers is about to sound a little different. Beginning Friday, September 25, 2026, the Disney’s Hollywood Studios attraction will debut an all-new soundtrack hosted by Lilypad, a character from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5.

Called Lilypad’s Jams, the musical update will introduce reimagined songs from the Toy Story films alongside original tracks written specifically for the attraction. But guests will not need to board a flying saucer to experience everything Lilypad is bringing to Andy’s backyard.

Who Is Lilypad From Toy Story 5?

Lilypad is a frog-shaped smart tablet introduced in Toy Story 5. Disney describes the spirited new character as being on a mission to connect friends, and at Alien Swirling Saucers, she will use that technology to bring the toys together through music.

Serving as the attraction’s new DJ, Lilypad will connect to the internet to remix songs across a variety of genres. She joins Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, and the other toys already represented throughout Toy Story Land.

The timing of the update closely follows the streaming debut of Toy Story 5, which arrives on Disney+ on September 23, two days before Lilypad’s Jams begins at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Classic Toy Story Songs Are Getting New Remixes

The new soundtrack will put a different spin on music from across the Toy Story franchise. Guests can expect reimagined versions of familiar songs including “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “We Belong Together,” and “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away.”

To create the soundtrack, Walt Disney Imagineering worked with musicians in Nashville and experimented with several musical styles, including pop, country, EDM, and alternative rock.

“We wanted to think about the music in a completely new way—taking beloved songs from the Toy Story films and creat[ing] catchy new original songs that are singable, sincere, and a little cheesy, as one is about Pizza Planet,” Walt Disney Imagineering Senior Creative Producer Thomas Niederhiser said in Disney’s announcement.

The familiar music will be joined by songs created specifically for Alien Swirling Saucers. Those include “Pizza Planet Promo,” an in-universe theme song for the pizza arcade first seen in Toy Story, and “Spin It Back, Lilypad,” a tribute to the newest toy in Andy’s backyard.

“Collaborating with our partners at Pixar Animation Studios to write for these characters and expand their stories is just pure joy,” said Geoff Line, senior story lead at Walt Disney Imagineering. “We played with these toys as kids. Now we get to play with them as Imagineers. It doesn’t get better than that.”

Disney also teased that other fan-favorite toys (including Partysaurus Rex) will receive more airtime as part of Lilypad’s playlist.

New Entertainment Is Coming Beyond the Ride

The update will extend beyond the music played while guests ride Alien Swirling Saucers. Lilypad will DJ for everyone in Toy Story Land, meaning guests can experience portions of the new entertainment even if they skip the attraction.

Between songs, DJ Lily will introduce tracks and interact with the honorary toys visiting Andy’s backyard. Guests may be asked to identify which character she is doodling on her drawing app, help unscramble puzzles, or watch “home videos” featuring familiar Toy Story characters.

That additional entertainment could make the area around Alien Swirling Saucers feel more active throughout the day, while also giving families something to enjoy when one person is riding, or the group is taking a break nearby.

When Does Lilypad’s Jams Begin at Disney World?

Alien Swirling Saucers: Lilypad’s Jams officially debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Friday, September 25, 2026.

No attraction closure was announced in connection with the change. Disney has also not indicated that the ride experience itself will change beyond the new music and accompanying entertainment.

Alien Swirling Saucers opened with Toy Story Land in 2018. The spinning attraction sends guests gliding back and forth behind toy rocket ships piloted by the Little Green Men from Toy Story. Its soundtrack has always played a major role in the experience, making Lilypad’s arrival a noticeable update even though the ride system will remain the same.
