Disney has shared even more details about the updates coming to Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Park.
If you didn’t know, Disney announced in January that the attraction would be receiving a much-needed revamp “to reflect and value the diversity of the world around us,” all while removing problematic scenes.
Her name should sound familiar to at least those who’ve visited a particular table-service spot in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland.
Get To Know Alberta Falls
In the words of Disney, “For those looking to dive deeper, we’re also expanding the attraction’s backstory centered around Alberta Falls, granddaughter of world-renowned Dr. Albert Falls, as the proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd.”
As you can read in above the 1938 The Daily Gnus interview with Alberta, you’ll learn that she is the “owner, bookkeeper, and head mechanic of the Jungle Navigation Company.”
She inherited the company after the “mysterious” disappearance of her grandfather.
If you’ve dined at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom, then you may recognize Alberta’s name, since her story is part of the restaurant’s backstory. It’s nice to see she’s getting more of a presence on the actual ride.
As for Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise, Alberta isn’t part of the attraction, so this will be her big debut in Anaheim, California!

Meet The Other Characters
Several other characters are also coming to Jungle Cruise, as mentioned in Alberta’s interview and detailed in a March 19 Attractions Magazine interview with Disney Imagineers Susana Tubert and Kevin Livel.
“They are all a little bit eccentric in their own ways, and yet they share a history with Alberta Falls and a common interest: to have a once-in-a-lifetime immersive experience in nature,” Tubert revealed to the publication.
The other characters names are:
- Felix Pechman XIII, Jungle Navigation Company Ltd. Skipper (he’ll be seen as an audio-animatronic skipper on the ride)
- Dr. Leonard Moss, Acclaimed Canadian Botanist
- Rosa Soto Dominguez, Celebrated Mexican Artist
- Dr. Kon Chunosuke, S.E.A. Member and Japan’s Preeminent Entomologist
- Siobhan “Puffin” Murphy
You can learn more about these characters over at Attractions Magazine.
As for Skipper Felix, Disney revealed in January they would be adding a new animatronic skipper who would be seen being chased up the famous pole by a rhino, alongside other explorers.
This is the first time the skipper role will be in the form of both a live guide on the boat with park guests and also represented by an audio-animatronic figure with the attraction.
If you’re wondering about Trader Sam’s future, Tubert and Lively didn’t say, but they did tell Attractions Magazine, “As far as Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland Resort and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Walt Disney World Resort, no plans are on the way to update them currently.”
Jungle Cruise Updates
There are definitely a lot of updates, but fans shouldn’t worry too much, because classic jokes will remain and the beloved witty Skippers aren’t going anywhere.
