Is that (in)famous Bourbon Bloody Mary at EPCOT worth the price? Here’s what we thought …
If you have been to the Swanky Saucy Swine booth at the 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, or even causally scrolled foodie posts on Instagram, you have surely seen the 2022 break-out conversation piece: The Bourbon Bloody Mary. With a plume of bacon and a unique flavor, it is the most Instagram-able drink at this year’s fest.
The Bourbon Bloody Mary is 2022’s most polarizing Food and Wine Festival drink. You either love it …. or you walk 50 feet and grab a margarita from Mexico instead.
Priced at $11.00, it is one of the most expensive drinks for sale at the 2022 fest. That means it needs to be your kind of taste to be worth the price. Here is how to tell if this fanciful drink is for you.
The presentation will make you want to pull your phone right out to snag a pic for your friends to drool over, hoping to make them incredibly jealous of your EPCOT foodie adventure.
The drink comes in a plastic souvenir mason jar with a label on it heralding the Swanky Saucy Swine booth. The mason jar cup gives the drink some Southern charm and makes it look downright cute! Pair that with the maple salt rim and the maple bacon garnish and you’ve got a heapin’ helpin’ of visual texture and undeniable pizzaz.
All in all, whether or not you like the taste of the drink there’s no argument that it looks scrumptious.
Bourbon Bloody Mary Flavor Profile
The Bourbon Bloody Mary features Seaside Grown Bloody Mary Mix and Labrot & Graham Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey. Emphasis on that last part. One thing is for sure, to like this drink you have to love bourbon.
Unlike a regular bloody mary with vodka, which can be drowned out by other flavors, the bourbon here is not disguised or outshined at all. This is not your average tomatoey-salty mary. The Bourbon Bloody Mary has a lot of bite and the most distinguished flavor in the drink is definitely the bourbon.
The best part of this drink for me is the garnish and rim.
The rim of the beverage is coated in maple syrup and salt, talk about yum! The garnish is the best maple bacon you have ever had. It is soaked in maple syrup but not too soggy, and perfectly salty.
Is the Bourbon Bloody Mary Worth It?
👎 Here’s Who May Not Like It:
If you’re someone who likes a really complex flavor and you want your bloody mary to have a lot of mix in it, then this drink probably isn’t for you. The bourbon just isn’t shy here.
👍 Here’s Who Will Love It:
If you’re someone that basically wants a bourbon beverage with just a little bit of extra flavor added then I would go for it! Again, that bourbon really shines.
I had high hopes for this drink after I tasted the garnish on top, and unfortunately, the actual beverage paled in comparison. I like a lot of different flavors in my bloody marys, so I just wasn’t the right bourbon-loving target audience for this lavish concoction. Margaritas, anyone?
If you love bourbon and want to try sipping something with an interesting twist this is for you. Otherwise, I would pass up on this polarizing eye-catcher. If you don’t really care about how it tastes and just want to post a picture, then do it for the Gram and grab one.
