The new Disney Cruise Line terminal at Port Everglades marks the second year-round homeport for the company in Florida.
Disney Cruise Line guests now have another option when it comes to setting sail on a magical cruise from Florida! As of November 13, 2023, Disney Cruise Line has officially arrived at Broward County’s Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
With Disney Cruise Line’s arrival at Port Everglades, there’s a new dedicated cruise terminal that’s just for Disney ships! It’s Disney Cruise Line’s second year-round homeport in the state of Florida, with Port Canaveral being the first.
This new cruise terminal at Port Everglades is perfectly located in South Florida, which allows guests the opportunity to access and travel to beaches as well as entertainment, shopping, and dining destinations. It’s also an area that’s home to numerous family and cultural activities, providing plenty of pre- and post-cruise vacation options.
Plus, it’s easy for Disney Cruise Line travelers to reach Port Everglades, as the new cruise terminal is conveniently located near major airports and highways.
“The grand opening of our new dedicated terminal is an incredible milestone as we embark on the largest expansion in our cruise line’s history,” said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line. “Now our guests will have even more options to experience the magic of a Disney vacation at sea and can begin creating lifelong memories with their loved ones from the moment they arrive.”
If you’re setting sail on a Disney cruise vacation out of Port Everglades, you’ll find the new terminal is as immersive as any Disney destination. When guests arrive inside the terminal, they step into the underwater world of Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo. Spanning over 104,000 square feet, the space was reimagined by Walt Disney Imagineering exclusively for Disney Cruise Line.
In addition to welcoming guests to this new cruise terminal, Disney Cruise Line is also commemorating the special occasion of the opening with new community investments in Broward County. Disney Cruise Line is making donations to Junior Achievement South Florida and Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, and those funds will support a variety of different initiatives. Additionally, cast and crew members from Disney Cruise Line will have the chance to volunteer as mentors through various educational programs with these organizations.
“Being a good steward in the port communities where Disney Cruise Line operates is so important to us. We’re proud to continue to invest in local youth programs that help empower and inspire the next generation of dreamers in Broward County,” Siskie said.
The Disney Dream will be the first Disney Cruise Line ship to set sail out of the new Port Everglades terminal on November 20, 2023. Next up, the Disney magic will arrive on May 9, 2024 and leave from Port Everglades to tropical destinations throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
