Japan is known for sushi, but have you ever had a sushi donut? If that sounds like a delectable dish to you, check out the Japan booth, Goshiki. And honestly, even if you don’t like the sound of it, it’s something you have to try to say you did. Wash it down with some sake.

While sushi and sake are cultural classics for Japanese cuisine, there’s so much more to try at the Japan Pavilion’s booth! If you haven’t tried the Sushi Donut, it’s a total treat – and those who love crispy, panko-coated meat won’t want to skip the chance to try Katsu.

Rainbow Katsu Sando

This dish is a pork cutlet sandwich with tangy tonkatsu sauce and cabbage in rainbow sweet bread. What’d we think? Here’s a review from WDW Communications Director Tatjana Lazar: “Do not sleep on the pickled radish on the side! That stuff, it’s got a zing and a kick. We put a little bit on the sandwich and took a bite, and that was just perfection. Yummy!”

Ichigo Daifuku

This dish includes mixed berry mochi, sweet azuki bean paste, and mascarpone. What’d we think? Here’s a review from WDW Communications Director Tatjana Lazar: “The red bean interior was nice and soft, and the whipped cream gave it a nice little sweetness on top with the fresh berries, so all the textures work really nicely together.”

Sushi Donut

This dish features donut-shaped sushi featuring salmon, tuna, shrimp, cucumber, and sesame seed over a decorated plate of wasabi aïoli, sriracha, and eel sauce

What’d we think? Here’s our review: “It’s sushi, but in a circle-the-wagons kind of way. This is about as large as a 6-piece roll, and the toppings are generous. I really love the wasabi aioli and eel sauce included in the middle of the roll. That makes the donut pieces fun to dip!”

Purple Yuzu Sake Lemonade

This spin on lemonade is actually a sake cocktail infused with butterfly pea flower and yuzu lemonade. What’d we think? Here’s a review from WDW Communications Director Tatjana Lazar: “So good – tangy, sweet, really punchy flavors. And that lavender color is just lovely.”

Sake

What’d we think? Here’s our review: “Sake is traditionally served in little square wooden cups, and the regulars at sake bars will have their cups along the wall waiting for them next time. This is the same idea, but they’ll write your name on your cup and send you on your way. The sake was tasty, but clearly the cool thing here is the authentic souvenir!”
