Closures are coming soon to Walt Disney World that you definitely want to make sure you mark on your calendar.
First, Soarin’ will close at Epcot January 4, 2016 and reopen sometime during the summer of 2016. During the closure the attraction will be re-imagined to include a new journey, Soarin’ Around the World. A third theatre will also be added, which will hopefully alleviate some of the long lines.
Second, Planet Hollywood in Disney Springs is expected to close for refurbishment starting sometime in January. During this time the restaurant will undergo a significant redesign where it will be transformed into an observatory. The new restaurant will open sometime during the spring/summer of 2016.
Finally, in a very surprising move, Star Wars Weekends has been discontinued. The popular special event we’ve come to expect in May will now be replaced by new experiences which are being added to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Starting December 1st, guests can view special exhibits, purchase special merchandise, and even experience encounters with Chewbacca and Darth Vader. Are-imagined Jedi training experience called Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple will also open in December. There will also be a new destination added to Star Tours: The Adventures Continue!
